Taped at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, the annual Grio Awards – hosted by actor-comics Roy Woods Jr. and Sheryl Underwood – aired Saturday night (November 25) and gave nods to the achievements of African Americans across fashion, entertainment, sports, philanthropy, business, environmental and social justice, and education.

Among the 2023 honorees was Mariah Carey, who not only stands in Billboard records book as the most-decorated chart-topper in Hot 100 history (among soloists) but is also one of the best-selling female singers of all time.

Beyond accepting the night’s Music Icon Award, Mariah saw her timeless catalog toasted via a tribute rendered by Coco Jones, Boyz II Men, Patti LaBelle, and Jennifer Hudson.

To amp excitement about the re-release, the pregnant femcee has delivered the first taste from its updated tracklist: ‘Free My N***a.’

With five 2024 GRAMMY nominations to her credit (including Best New Artist) as revealed at the top of November, newcomer Coco Jones definitely has a lot to be thankful for this season.

Now, just a day after Thanksgiving, she’s reiterating that courtesy of a new holiday tune, ‘Timeless Christmas.’

Co-penned with Tiyon ‘TC’ Mack, the original yuletide tune comes as the second of such ilk she’s released in the last month and follows her remake of Destiny’s Child favorite ‘8 Days of Christmas.’

“There’s laughter in our hearts, a special kind / Sharing love and kindness in every rhyme / Every rhyme / We gather ’round with friends by our side / And feel all the magic in the sky / In the sky,” she croons on the heartwarming song.

His 11th studio effort, the GRAMMY nominee assembled an untouchable trinity of super-producers – Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, and Pharrell – to serve as its executive producers while recruiting the likes of Coi Leray, Young Thug, Quavo, Chris Brown, Kodak Black, Burna Boy, and more to serve as guest stars.
