British chart-topper Rita Ora looks all flavours of fierce on the cover of ‘Glamour’ magazine’s January 2013 issue.

The high-profile feature is the latest in a long-line of promotional stops for the 22 year old who has been on a relentless campaign in support of her debut album ‘ORA’ all year.

********

Satisfying today’s sad, yet real reality that successful acts must “look the part”, Ora is particularly refreshing in that she actually boasts a distinctive and powerful Pop voice. A fact which trounces the so-so nature of some of her material; and a fact which, ultimately, makes the prospect of what she can become especially exciting. After all, it’s infinitely better to have the talent first and let the rest fall into place later, rather than to still be developing actual talent six or seven albums in.

Easily one of 2012’s biggest breakout stars, Rita Ora has achieved in twelve months what some of her contemporaries have been striving for for years.

Indeed, with three (consecutive) UK 1#’s, a chart-topping album in ‘ORA’, and a fourth single that also touched the top 10, the Londoner’s popularity on home soil is undeniable.

Only natural, then, is for the 22 year old to reward her most responsive market with a nationwide trek. Christened the ‘Radioactive Tour’, the jaunt commences next year ahead of Ora’s full-on US launch.

Guess who’s back?

Indeed, ‘Don’t Wake Me Up’ divo Chris Brown has fired up his Twitter account again today after a short hiatus due to an e-spat with comedienne Jenny Johnson last week.

As fans know, the singer’s Twitter handle may have been on vacay for a short stay, but his Instagram account never stopped buzzing – as evidenced by Brown’s recently uploaded picture of himself and “friend”/”singer” Rihanna – similar to one she shared last week

Tonight saw ‘Most Girls’ singer Pink grace the ‘X Factor UK‘ stage with a performance of her new single ‘Try’, pulled from her new album ‘The Truth About Love‘.

Joined by a phenomenal orchestra and those vocals, this performance is a little tamer than her set at the ‘American Music Awards‘, though still as captivating.

Though armed with the benefit of ‘The X Factor UK’, Brit belle Tulisa has oft struggled to prove her worth as a ‘high end’ act since joining the series last year.

Indeed, though she stands as a far better vocalist than one time judge Cheryl Cole, the ‘Young‘ singer’s undeniably ‘basic’ demeanour has seen her fall short of winning the  support afforded to Cole by both the press and the general public during her time on the show.

Now watch her perform her latest single ‘Sight Of You’ on tonight’s episode and let us know what you thought of it below…

This week’s From The Vault pick features two R&B titans who joined forces for what would become one of 2004’s biggest releases. Of course, we’re talking Usher and Alicia Keys’ ‘My Boo’.

After the tremendous success of their albums, the Diamond-selling ‘Confessions’ and the Multi-Platinum ‘The Diary Of Alicia Keys’  – Ush and AK united to record the Jermaine Dupri produced track; a decision that would prove a wise one as it gave them their 7th and 2nd #1 on Billboard Hot 100 respectively.

In addition to its 6 weeks reign atop of the said chart – and a #36 ranking on the Decade-End tally – ‘My Boo’ reached the fifth spot of the UK charts and was nominated for two Grammys, winning one and losing the other… to none other than Alicia Keys and her signature hit ‘If I Ain’t Got You’.

The Chris Robinson directed visual complimenting the song’s lyrics saw the two singers reminiscing on the love that once was, wandering the empty streets of New-York and eventually meeting in Times Square.

Eight years later, Usher and Alicia are still slaying the charts and blazing stages worldwide. Sure, neither may shift the type of units they once did (see: recession, rise of illegal downloading, and the general roller-coaster that is a “career”) . However, they remain major industry figures and have cultivated success narratives that serve as both inspirations to both newcomers as well as their chart rivals. Indeed, while some of the acts outselling both at present are popular, these two are also respected – a particularly important difference.

Talents like those never cease to amaze, so we’re confident these two have a few more successful decades in music ahead of them.
