Jon Batiste returned to his home state of Louisiana on Sunday (February 9) to kick off the 2025 Super Bowl with a stirring rendition of the U.S. National Anthem.

Via what came as a true toast to The Big Easy (where the big game was held), Batiste gave the historical number a jazzy, New Orleans-flavored revamp while President Donald Trump looked on from the audience in full salute.

And though many took to social media to praise the EMMY, GRAMMY, and OSCAR-winning singer-songwriter for his spirited performance, others – especially Trump’s supporters – gave the innovative version two thumbs down.

Lady Gaga delivered a surprise performance at the Super Bowl 2025 Pregame.

The superstar paid emotional tribute to the victims of the New Year’s Day terror attack in New Orleans that killed 14 people in New Orleans. And she did so in song, with a stirring rendition of ‘Hold My Hand.’

As widely reported, a man later identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove a pickup up truck through Bourbon Street, striking pedestrians and injuring 30 others.

The horrific attack is the deadliest act of terrorism in the United States since the October 2023 mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, where 18 people lost their lives.

Stationed on Bourbon Street, Gaga soared with a powerful take on the uplifting track.

Jon Batiste joined an esteemed list of names to kick off the Super Bowl 2025 with the US National Anthem.

Taking center stage at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, the revered GRAMMY winner took vocal flight with a unique interpretation of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner.’

Batiste’s offering functions as a homecoming of sorts, given that he was born and raised in Louisiana.

The star’s showing precedes the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, which is being headlined by Kendrick Lamar.

The soulful songbird delivered a stirring vocal masterclass with her performance ‘Lift Every Voice And Sing.’

Singing with 125 New Orleans high school students, the star’s showing was in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the song – which is widely considered the Black National Anthem.

The pair, who are often considered celebrity lookalikes, stepped on stage together to deliver a medley of their signature hits ‘Made For Me’ and ‘Open My Heart.’

Muni’s appearance follows her triumph at the GRAMMYs 2025, where she took home the Best R&B Performance honor.
