R&B songstress Brandy recently held a private live session for her fans in Philadelphia. The 28 year old, whose latest effort ‘Human’ hits stores December 9th, performed acapella renditions of earlier hits such as ‘Almost Doesn’t Count’ and ‘I Wanna Be Down’ as well as giving a live showing of current single ‘Right Here (Departed)’.

Watching this really does remind me as to why Ms. Norwood continues to be held in such high regard by many. Nearly 15 years in the game and getting better. A rarity. Here’s hoping ‘Human’ does major things for her.

Beyonce On Ed Lover Show Unsurprisingly, Beyonce is touching all bases with the promotional campaign for her new LP ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’, hence is seemingly everywhere. Today, though, she stopped by the Ed Lover Morning Show on New York’s Power 105 radio station for what was a fantastic interview.
Though not anything controversial, Bouncy talked about everything; from Justin Timberlake’s ‘Single Ladies’ skit on Saturday Night Live to the rumors of one of her dancers being a transsexual to Kanye’s comment about Rihanna making her step up her game, the rumored Britney collabo and a whole lot more. Check out the interview below:

50 Cent 'Explains' Album Delay 50 Cent last week joined a long line of artists this year who saw the release of their latest album’s pushed back. The G-Unit star’s ‘Before I Self Destruct’ LP, originally set for a December 9th release, has been given a 2009 release date. The rapper, real name Curtis Jackson, spoke with MTV about the delay recently. Check out the report below:

NEW YORK — No big conspiracy here: 50 Cent said he decided to delay the release of his Before I Self Destruct album from December 16 until next year because he needed more setup time.

“I’m trying to leave the same way I came in,” he said Sunday night during “Total Finale Live.” “February 4 [2003], Get Rich or Die Tryin’ came out. I drop this album February 3. The time frame. It used to take six to eight weeks for us to position a hip-hop record. Now, it’s taking 12 to 14 weeks.

“Just the positioning,” he continued. “I’m not comfortable where I’m at right now. My song ‘Get Up’ is performing great. I’m happy with ‘Get Up.’ It moved faster than ‘I Get Money’ at radio. But I’m just looking for the opportunity to present more of my material [prior to the album’s release]. It’s not the strongest effort on my album; it’s just a great start for me.”

The video for “Get Up” is out now. Besides paying homage to the Will Smith blockbuster “I Am Legend,” Fif also comes full circle with a nod to his own “In Da Club” video. With the release of Before I Self Destruct, he will fulfill his contractual obligation to Shady/Aftermath and Interscope Records for new recordings. A greatest-hits collection will follow if he does not ink a new contract with Interscope.

“We may put out a greatest-hits record then, [when] we start the renegotiations,” he said of his talks with Interscope.

Although he’s publicly expressed disdain for the way Interscope and its chair, Jimmy Iovine, have handled projects such as Curtis and the G-Unit’s T.O.S., Fif did tell us he’ll let bygones be bygones for the right price.

“I think all artists have things they can point to that have been done wrong at different points in their career,” he said. “It’s cool. I’ll get over it. They can just pay me.” {Source}

Delusions of grandeur, no doubt. I’m not quite sure who 50 is trying to kid with his statements about ‘Get Up’ doing well. The track has no buzz, no nothing. For his sake, he needs to come hard with whatever he drops next, as it may be curtains for him if not (some say it is already).

Randomness: The last part about re-signing with the label for the right price, irrespective of the ‘mis-handling’s’ of his projects (I maintain they were crap anyway), speaks volumes. So much for artistic credibility, the ‘more money’ mentality seems to what 50 is working with. A shame.

Jamie Foxx Covers Mens Health Peep Jamie Foxx on the cover of the latest issue of Mens Health magazine. It seems Foxx must have something out soon, as he’s doing the promo rounds – also recently speaking to Maxim about his altering his body for roles:

Oscar winner Jamie Foxx bit into the role of a schizophrenic musician for his latest movie The Soloist – by chiseling his perfect teeth. Foxx was determined to create a realistic portrayal of Nathaniel Ayers, a homeless American musician who suffered from schizophrenia, so he took the tool to his mouth to mess up his good looks.

The actor explains to Maxim magazine, “I spent hours getting the nuances of the person, making him real. Something angelic happens and you actually become that person. For Nathaniel, I pushed things a bit. I lost about 20 pounds and I put a gap in my teeth. I had one (of my teeth) chipped out with a chisel. My teeth are just so big and white – a homeless person would never have them. I wanted to break up my big, shining piano keys to five them a little character. Some might think I f—ed up my grill for nothing, but I just wanted to come up with some s— to make the part unique.”

More power to him.

Randomness: It’s pretty inspiring to see what actors like Jamie as well as Will Smith have come from in comparison to where they are now. I mean Will is the highest earning actor in Hollywood – fact. Good times.

Beyonce - 'I Am...Sasha Fierce' Review This week marks the official release of Beyonce’s much-hyped 3rd solo outing ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’. Preceded by bonafide smash singles ‘If I Were A Boy’ and ‘Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)’, it seems as though the masses are giving a collectivised thumbs up to what the former Destiny’s Child front-woman is serving up this go round.
That said, given how vocal the That Grape Juice faithful have been about ol’ Bouncy over the past few months, we’re gonna handle this review a little differently. We would like to read your own reviews of ‘I Am…’. Head on over to the comment section and let rip…

Drop you review of ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’ below

After a calling it a day with the US labels (following the complete and utter mishandling of her last album ‘Liberation’), R&B songstress Mya has turned her attention to Japan. Now signed with Manhattan Records, the 29 year old is set to release her new LP ‘Sugar & Spice’ over there this December. The video for ‘Paradise’, the LP’s lead single, made its debut this week and what can I say other than…appalling. Cheap, uninspired, trashy…did I say cheap?

Hell, with £50.00 and Windows Movie Maker, I could have done a better job myself. Not a good look.

What do you think of the song/video?

The video for Rihanna’s ___ single (I’m losing count) ‘Rehab’ premiered moments ago. Directed by Anthony Madler, the clip is visually engaging simply because Ms. Fenty looks stunning. Aside from that, rubbish, boring video for a rubbish, boring song. Justin just seems to be there for being there sake (yes, he co-wrote the song, but still).

I cannot comprehend why her label continue to dish out the cash for this chick – single after single, video after video and she still isn’t selling anywhere near what she should be – even with that crappy re-release. With Mariah unable to catch a hit if she tried and Janet long gone, it makes me wonder if investing all the time and funds they have into Ms. Fenty would have been better spent on their other projects – projects which if handled correctly could have been major. Anyway…

With ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’ released this week, Beyonce is everywhere promoting the record, which will no doubt sell like hotcakes. Check out her recent set for AOL Sessions below:

Your Top 5 Songs Of The Moment? You know the deal; That Grape Juice, once again, wants to see what you all are listening to. Which 5 tracks have you got on constant rotation at the moment? Remember, it doesn’t have to be limited to Urban music; could be something new, Throwback, religious, even something you made yourself LOL. Drop a comment in the comments section. Mine are – in no particular order:

1) Go Girl – Ciara
2) Music (ft. Lauryn Hill) – Joss Stone
3) Stroke You Up – Changing Faces
4) Believer – Mary Mary
5) Halo – Beyonce

What are your ‘Top 5 Songs Of The Moment’?
After more than a decade on the air, MTV’s flagship show, Total Request Live (TRL), aired its final episode last night. Filmed live from New York’s famed Times Square, ‘Total Finale Live’ boasted performances from Beyonce, 50 Cent and Ludacris, Nelly and Snoop Dogg. Check out the performances below:

Beyonce – If I Were A Boy, Single Ladies & Crazy In Love

50 Cent – Medley

Ludacris, Nelly, Snoop – Medley

Awesome performances all round! Beyonce, though…wow…she really is on some next platform. Three back to back performances of vocally taxing songs and she still delivers. Hottest Chick In The Game with good reason…

Anyway, it’s kind of a shame that TRL is ending. No matter your locality/nationality, you’ve likely heard of the once popular show. Hell, even, other markets tried to launch their own version (does anyone else remember the crapper than crap UK version?). I guess all good things must come to an end. Word has it, FN’MTV is to replace it.

Danity Kane Step Out As Trio Danity Kane Step Out As Trio
Following the recent controversy surrounding Danity Kane (which led to the axing of members Aubrey O’ Day and D. Woods), remaining members Dawn Richard, Audrea Fimbres and Shannon Bex made an appearance at Jet Nightclub in Las Vegas last night. The ladies are also said to have performed at the club.
Danity Kane Step Out As Trio Danity Kane Step Out As Trio Danity Kane Step Out As Trio

They all look great, Audrea especially, however I’m just not warming to the idea of the group as a three. Technically, the group could work as some of the remaining ladies are arguably the most talented in both line-ups. However the lack of Aubrey and D. Woods is just oh-so-apparent and needed too. This isn’t the inter-changeable Pussycat Dolls (aka Nicole and whoever they decide to shove behind her…I’m still shocked at how they dyed one of the random chick’s hair red when redhead Carmit Barchar left. I guess it worked as many didn’t even notice! Enough of my ramble LMAO).
