Earlier this month, August Alsina saw his debut album, 2014’s ‘Testimony,’ become his first album to reach Platinum status in the United States – a triumph that came just months after the album’s tracks, ‘No Love’ and ‘I Luv This Sh*t,’ became his first two singles to reach double Platinum status.

Despite those wins, which have been coupled with calls for new music from his diehard fans, the 29-year-old has indicated he’s not inspired to press forward with his music career.

Barely a year after his ill-fated third studio album, ‘State of Emergency,’ slipped out of the Billboard 200 after a 3-week tenancy (as we reported here), Alsina’s announced he’s set to vacate the music scene all together.

The clash of the songwriter-producer titans continues!

As we reported here, ‘Cant Nobody Hold Me Down’ hitmaker Diddy made headlines when he suggested nobody but Dr. Dre was worthy of challenging him in a #VERZUZ battle.  Once Jermaine Dupri entered the chat to assert his worthiness as a competitor, he was shot down when the Bad Boy mogul said:

“You aiint got enough hits. I’ll smash you with just biggie n Mary . But I do have the upmost respect on you as a musical legend – Dre the only one can get in the ring with me…”

The statement set off a firestorm of chatter from social media commenters, many of whom cited Dupri’s lengthy list of hits with the likes of Mariah Carey, Usher, Monica, and more as reasons why he would likely win a showdown with Diddy.

Said sentiment was doubled down on recently when Jermaine took to a radio interview to run down some of his accolades.

As Justin Timberlake puts the final touches on his hotly-anticipated, yet-titled sixth solo studio album (as we reported here), his loyal fans are still clinging to his past hits to tide themselves over.

Evidence of this was served recently when the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) took to press to announce the GRAMMY winner’s 2018 critically polarizing album, ‘Man of the Woods,’ recently cleared the threshold for Platinum certification.

After over 10 years of bops courtesy of 2 studio albums, multiple mixtapes, EPs, and critically acclaimed singles, Iggy Azalea bid her music career adieu with her third and final studio effort – the August 13-released ‘End of an Era.’

A 14-track affair supported by housed tunes ‘Sip It,’ ‘I Am the Strip Club,’ ‘Sex on the Beach,’ and ‘Brazil,’ the project may have sent her beloved fans (affectionately called #Azaleans) into a frenzy but – as we reported here – the set was ignored by music lovers at large.

Although it stands as her first LP to miss the Billboard 200 entirely, Azalea’s got her sights set on chart redemption via the ‘Era’ deluxe edition.  Beefed up with an additional three songs, the September 17-released repackage comes with the added benefit of extra promotion via an aggressive Stateside tour alongside fellow rapper Pitbull.

Chloe Bailey is heating up the scene with her debut solo single ‘Have Mercy.’

Unleashed as the premiere taste of the 23-year-old’s forthcoming album, the Murda Beatz produced bop benefitted from viral exposure of its snippet – which racked up nearly a million uses on TikTok before the full song even arrived.

Amplifying buzz the more was the song’s blazing video, which saw Bailey dance up a storm. She also delivered an electrifying performance of ‘Mercy’ at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards.

All, it seems, has helped fuel the single’s success on the Billboard Hot 100.

Halsey is hot on the promotional trail.

Case in point, the singer just released their new live video for their song ‘I Am Not A Woman, I Am A God.’ 

In the new clip, they splash in fake blood as they sing the Atticus Rose and Trent Reznor-produced cut. Elsewhere, they can be seen singing into the camera as the stage begins to flash and lights begin to strobe all around them.

The song is lifted from Halsey’s fourth studio album: ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power’ album.

Kacey Musgraves is back with another new visual.

This time around, the music superstar has shared the “very unofficial video” for her song ‘Breadwinner.’

The visual is a behind-the-scenes sort, where many of the project’s aesthetic choices were made. In the clip, several different stylistic choices can be seen, as Musgraves sings through different, colorful settings.

‘Breadwinner’ is lifted from Musgraves’ most recent album, ‘Star-Crossed.’ The album recently debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart to her career best sales week (as we reported here).

‘Star-Crossed’ is the follow-up to her 2018 GRAMMY Award winning album, ‘Golden Hour.’

Kanye West is back with another visual.

Mere days after releasing his video for ’24,’ the music superstar has unleashed the video for his song ‘Donda Chant.’ 

The video was first shared exclusively to Instagram before it made its way to to other streaming services. The video takes inspiration from West’s listening event at Chicago’s Soldier Field stadium.

In the clip, an aerial shot of the replica of his childhood home is featured and two vehicles can be seen circling the house. Additionally, baby photos of Ye can be seen along with clips of his mom.

The track appears on West’s most recent album, ‘Donda’ (stream it here).
