Yet again, Dua Lipa‘s ‘Levitating’ proves the age old adage ‘slow and steady wins the race.’

The song’s original incarnation (and later a Madonna & Missy Elliott-buoyed remix) may have not made much noise on the charts upon their respective summer 2020 introductions (as we reported here), but now – 9 months after it was officially serviced to radio as a single – ‘Levitating’ has lifted to a new Hot 100 peak.

Over four months after cracking the chart’s top 10 for the first time, ‘Levitating’ is found at #4 on the refreshed tally thanks to its version featuring DaBaby. A new peak, it now ranks as the second highest-charting Lipa song ever – following the #2 peak of fellow ‘Future Nostalgia’ number ‘Don’t Start Now.’  And while that high octane bop missed out on laying claim to Dua’s first chart championship, industry analysts are suggesting ‘Levitating’ may take the spot as it is in a tight three-way race with Silk Sonic‘s ‘Leave the Door Open’ and Justin Bieber‘s ‘Peaches’ for next week’s #1.

Until we find out who will win, look below to see who joins all three in the top 25 of this week’s TGJ Chart Check.

J. Cole‘s new album may be christened ‘The Off-Season,’ but the MC proved he’s very much on-point when it comes to his freestyle flow.

The star stopped by Power 106 FM to chop it up with the L.A. Leakers.

While there, he seized the moment to drop a freestyle over ’93 Til Infinity’ by Souls of Mischief and later Mike Jones’ ‘Still Tippin’.

Over a decade in the making, it saw Cole showcase razor-sharp bars including a polarizing line about embattled Bill Cosby:

“Ain’t got no time or no patience / For lists they be makin’ or who they debatin’ is better / Let’s face it, he one of the greatest / No Bill Cosby sh*t but if ni**as is sleepin’ then f*ck ’em.”
