Over the next year, pioneering Gospel singer Mahalia Jackson will be the subject of three different biopics – an undertaking set to see Jill Scott, Ledisi, and ‘Orange is the New Black’ star Danielle Brooks portray the titular character in those respective films.

As the latter was the first announced (like we reported here), it will be the first unveiled.

Due Easter weekend 2021, the Lifetime made-for-TV movie was produced by EMMY-nominated newscaster Robin Roberts and will chronicle Jackson’s humble beginnings in the Jim Crow South to her performances on some of the most important stages in the world – groundbreaking efforts that led to her being dubbed the “Mother of Gospel Music.”

ZAYN may have been the second member of One Direction to pursue solo success after the quintet’s disbandment, but he was the first to earn major success on both the Hot 100 and Billboard 200.

In early 2016, the singer made history when his solo debut single, ‘Pillow Talk,’ and its parent album, ‘Mind of Mine,’ both debuted at No. 1 on the their respective charts – a feat he replicated in his native U.K. to become the first British male artist to premiere atop tallies on both sides of the pond.

The response to his inaugural effort seemed to have signaled promising commercial performances in the future, but his follow-up album, 2018’s ‘Icarus Falls,’ evinced such was not the case.

Fans hoping his third swing at bat, the January 15-released ‘Nobody is Listening,’ would be just the catalyst needed to return the 28-year-old to his former chart glory will likely be disheartened to learn the 11-track project is set to inadvertently live up to its namesake.

Co-starring Jovan Adepo and Grace Van Patten, the film follows the character of Daniel.

Fifteen years after the murder of his older sister, he steadily falls for a high school senior Cassie.

Inspired by ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ the Kerem Sanga directed flick was initially meant to have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival last April. But, with that being the beginnings of the global health crisis, those plans were paused.

Nonetheless, the movie will be arriving in US theaters and be available on-demand from February 19.
