For a genre that purports to set trends, recent years have seen Hip Hop sooner play ‘follower’ than it would ‘leader’.

However, more so than any of the trends its taken on recently, its part in glamorising the drug  MDMA (otherwise known as Molly) has gone some way to expose a culture that can be convinced into trying anything, if packaged sweetly enough.

Tonight, the 2013 People’s Choice Awards took the honor of being first to kick off the 2013 awards season. The ceremony, held at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater, saw TGJ favorites Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Beyonce, Usher, Chris Brown, and more all vying for the show’s top honors.

And, though quite the tight race, one of the aforementioned shocked all with a whopping four wins!

Though it isn’t as publicized as it should be, ‘Practice‘ Rapper Drake is one of the US’ Top 5 mega sellers– holding more commercial value than acts afforded more press coverage than him.

So, it came as a surprise to many when reports emerged suggesting a rift between he and his Young Money bosses, Lil Wayne and Birdman, over capital owed but not paid to him- prompting rumors that he was to leave the Hip Hop music group.

Nashville played host to the 2012 Grammy Nomination special where the likes of music’s biggest names gathered for the unveiling of the 2013 Grammy nominations.

While we won’t find out who will be walking away with the coveted gram-o-phones until the show airs live on CBS February 10th, click below to find out if your fave was able to nab a nomination.

Brandy is back!

It’s been four long years since the R&B veteran had her last march up Billboard charts.  A feat all the more surprising given the singer’s media presence over the time since has by no means diminished.

As reported here, fans of R&B bad boy Chris Brown should look forward to seeing their fave afront screens very soon as he recently took to Twitter to tease his forthcoming single ‘Don’t Judge Me’.

And, while Brown did not confirm the exact date of when fans should expect the video, word has it we may get our full view before the week is out.
