The ‘Gnat’ rapper recently sat down with Apple Music‘s Zane Lowe to reflect on his career and to discuss the release of his ‘Music To Be Murdered By: Side B’ album. During their conversation, Em revealed the reason as to why it is so hard to choose the best rapper of all time.
Whether penciled in history books for reasons good, bad, ugly, and/or everything in between, 2020 brought with it some of entertainment’s most memorable moments.
Now, as the year draws to a close, That Grape Juice is reflecting on our favorite moments that rocked – and to some degree maybe even reshaped – the Urban and Pop cultural landscape as we know it.
Next, we’ll look at how K-Pop exploded onto American shores:
New Age Disco Queens Kylie Minogue and Dua Lipa joined forces for the latter’s ‘Studio 2054′ virtual concert, a star-studded showing that also featured appearances from the likes of Elton John, Miley Cyrus, and more (as we reported here).
Lifting a revamp of Minogue’s ‘Real Groove,’ a tune found aboard her latest chart-topping album ‘Disco’ (click here to stream), their remix of the song stood as such a standout moment of the showing it’s been glossed and packaged for digital download and streaming outlets.
With the current climate seeing an influx of titles flooding the media scape, it’s arguably more difficult than ever to make waves or resonate.
Yet, ‘Sylvie’s Love’ is proving to be an exception.
Led by Tessa Thompson and Nnamdi Asomugha, the film tells the tale of a young woman who meets an aspiring saxophonist in her father’s record store back in 1950s Harlem. From there, their love births a roller-coaster romance that transcends changing times, geography, and career success.
That Grape Juice‘s Shar Jossell caught up with the film’s writer and director, Eugene Ashe, who opened up about the movie (and performances) on everyone’s lips.
‘Do You Know the Way to San Jose’ hitmaker Dionne Warwick has found her way to the good graces of Nicki Minaj‘s fan group, affectionately called #Barbz, after confirming she too is a supporter of the GRAMMY-nominated rapstress.
The 80-year-old’s increased use of Twitter over the last few weeks has made headlines for its hilarity as she’s engaged with the likes of The Weeknd and Chance the Rapper – quizzing them and her followers on the latest happenings in Pop culture and related topics. Her online antics even inspired an ‘SNL’ skit.
If the hoopla surrounding her recent interaction with #Barbz is any indication, it’s likely Miss Warwick inspire a sequel to that ‘SNL’ stint.
