‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’ dances onto Netflix this December.
Anchored by Viola Davis, the production is set in the 1920s and chronicles the life of Blues singer Ma Rainey.
Based on the acclaimed August Wilson‘s play of the same name, the movie will explore issues of race, music, relationships, and the exploitation of Black recording artists.
Directed by George C. Wolfe and produced by Denzel Washington, ‘Ma Rainey’ also stars Chadwick Boseman. The film as the last performance from the much-loved actor, who passed away in August.
