The antithetical commercial performances of Katy Perry‘s pre-‘Witness’ eras versus post-‘Witness’ may be indication music lovers just can’t let go of her hits of yesteryear.

Despite launching a number of singles from her forthcoming studio album to the masses over the last year, none of them have enjoyed success on the Billboard Hot 100 quite like tunes from the earlier part of her career.

Now, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), is reaffirming that notion by upgrading the certifications of two of her most beloved numbers, ‘Teenage Dream’ and ‘Firework,’ as well as their parent project.

Despite being vocal about the aftermath of being shot in both feet in mid-July, Megan Thee Stallion kept mum on who the assailant was until Thursday (August 20) when she took to Instagram live to pinpoint fellow rapper Tory Lanez as the culprit (as we reported here).

While some praised the ‘Savage’ rapper for speaking her truth (one Lanez has yet to contest), others branded the Rap diva a ‘snitch’ for naming him as the offender – an event that will increase the likelihood he will be criminally charged for the act and possibly face deportation back to Canada.

Among those singing her praises is rapper 6ix9ine – who has faced ridicule in the past for snitching when he cooperated with federal investigators by detailing the criminal activity of the entire Nine Trey Bloods gang in New York (after partaking in the activity himself).

Living up to the title of his #1 hit, ‘TROLLZ,’ look inside to see just what he said about the Stallion/Lanez fiasco.

To brand Issa Rae a trailblazer would not only be fair but possibly an understatement given the moves she’s made to shake up Hollywood.

Breaking down barriers in writing rooms, Rae – who also acts and produces – has been a force of nature with hit television and film efforts from HBO’s ‘Insecure’ and ‘Black Lady Sketch Show’ to Netflix’s ‘The Lovebirds’ and a number of forthcoming big screen ventures.

Yet, despite the major moves she’s made in front of and behind the camera lens, 2020 promises to be her most recognized year yet as the groundbreaking series ‘Insecure’ was nominated 8 times the forthcoming Primetime EMMYs (including a nod for ‘Best Actress in a Comedy Series’).

Taking to ‘The Hollywood Reporter (THR)’ recently, the 35-year-old dished candidly on her opportunity to make history if she wins in the category, opening doors for other Black creatives, and so much more.
