The brilliance of R&B’s revival in recent years lies in the variety that has come along with it.

For, as Trey Songz and Willie Taylor succeed in peddling the ‘grown and sexy’, the likes of Frank Ocean continue to carve out more personal lanes, breathing life into the genre with messages and melodies that transcend genre for the first time in a long time.

Joining them in taking the genre back to the top comes Elijah Blake, the Grammy winning singer/songwriter whose ways with words has seen him pen cuts for Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Usher, Rihanna and ‘DUI‘ vocalist Ciara.

Now, in shining a light on the genius that caught Jay Z‘s ear no more than two years ago, we’re sharing just two of our favorite songs from the star. One of them, being his Keyshia ColeWonderland‘ duet and his very own ‘Talk To Me’.

‘Ain’t nobody….does it better’.

If you consider yourself a fan of ‘Chime For Change’ siren Beyonce, you’ll know that the above can’t be denied when it comes to live shows.

From the looks of things there will be Better days ahead for Chrisette Michele fans.

After months of teasers the ‘Charades’ singer has unveiled the cover to her fourth studio LP ‘Better’.  Due June 11th from Motown Records, the album is set to feature a number of big names including Musiq Soulchild, Wale, 2 Chainz, etc. and follows her well received mixtape ‘Audrey Hepburn:  An Audiovisual Presentation‘.

Joining songstress India Arie, Kelly Rowland, Ashanti, Ciara, and many more with her release, it appears R&B will be alive and well this summer.

Your thoughts?

As recent Hip Hop wins have shown, using the Hot 100 to determine how well a song is not always a good idea.

For, while some cuts may not sell enough week by week to score or hold Top Ten spots, they do sell enough to give the acts and labels behind much to smile about.

Alesha Dixon is opening up on what many would agree is a sensitive issue.

As one of the many driving forces behind Urban music’s mainstream notoriety in the late 90s/early noughties, the success she enjoyed as one third of Mis-Teeq went a long way to alter the perception the British media had of women of color.

However, in an interview she gave to Cosmopolitan Magazine recently, she revealed how underlying racism within the British media has seen an absence of ethnic women on prime time TV shows and the nation’s media industry as a whole.
