Yesterday afternoon, the retail company Target found itself in hot water when news of their refusal to stock Frank Ocean’s ‘Channel Orange’ LP emerged on LP.

Citing his decision to release the project to iTunes one week before initially scheduled as their cause for doing so, their rumored affiliations with anti- LGBTQ organisations led many to believe this was not the case.

This, because Ocean had revealed he had  been romantically involved with another man aged 19.

Now, the company has hit back at these claims by way of Billboard Biz.

As was to be expected, Frank Ocean‘s sexuality-baring letter has in many ways served as both a gift and a curse to the artist.

For while the ‘revelation’ has seen his art garner attention like never before, he has also found himself at the receiving end of what some might call ‘homophobic propaganda’.

Propaganda, which if a member of his team is to be believed, has led to his debut album being blacklisted by the retail company ‘Target‘.

All systems are go, go, go for Pink‘s 6th studio album ‘The Truth About Love’ (due September 18th).

With the set’s lead single ‘Blow Me (One More Kiss)’ soaring on both radio and iTunes, the Pop titan has unwrapped  cheeky new promotional shot in support of the project.

Needless to say, we can’t wait for the album!

Your thoughts?

Pop force Pink may be putting the final touches to her 6th studio album ‘The Truth About Love’ (due September 18th), however that hasn’t stopped the star from plugging the set’s lead single ‘Blow Me (One Last Kiss)’.

The cut, which is taking all the way off at radio, is also shaping up to be an iTunes hit – after being released digitally this week. Hence, so as to give the anthemic cut a push, the the 32 year old paid a visit to Z100 to talk music, motherhood, and more.

And while a live showing of ‘Blow’ may not be quite ready to unwrap, she also performed fan-favourites ‘Who Knew’ and ‘Perfect’. Peep the interview and performances after the jump…

“I love it, I love it, I love it when you…”

Hit the right note?

Well if you were expecting the above from ‘Styled To Rock’ star Rihanna you’ll be waiting a long time.

For, on Sunday night the Pop sensation did what she did best at the 2012 Wireless Fest by way of under performing her  ever celebrated material.

Material, despite being Pop of the highest quality, is oft unbearable when burdened with Fenty‘s pancake flat singing voice.

Not sure what we mean?

Frank Ocean‘s show-stopping performance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon moments ago lived up to its must-see billing. For, while his talent – as expected – showed up and showed out, the performance was garnished with an added coat of brilliance in that it was chosen as “the” one to launch its housing album ‘Channel Orange’.

The rare and surprising move, actioned by label Def Jam, saw the release of the eagerly anticipated set  brought forward by seven days (hitting iTunes at the strike of 12.00am) to coincide with the performance. It’s a move no doubt set in motion to capitalize on Ocean’s sexuality-bearing  letter – which remains a headline grabber a week after it rocked the industry.

Hence, in staying true to his reclusive “music does the talking” M-O, Ocean didn’t sit down with Fallon, instead he made folk sit up with a haunting showcase of ‘Bad Religion’.

And with a high-profile performance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon slated for this evening, multiple sources are confirming that -in light of recent events- the release of his hotly anticipated album ‘Channel Orange’ has been pushed up. All the way up.

Despite the successes of Missy Elliott, Lauryn Hill and the like, Female Rappers have oft been forced to ‘play the back’ in the game that is Pop music.

Indeed, perhaps the fault of their labels and management teams, Femcees have very rarely enjoyed chart success with their own material, riding on the backs of hits released by the commercially potent acts whose music they feature on.

Now, in what can only mark the beginning of the end to this pattern, Rap Queen Nicki Minaj has extended her lead as one of Pop’s fastest selling debutantes.

This time, on the UK Singles Chart.
