If the Billboard Hot 100 thought 2019 was a buzzing year for female rappers, 2020 is taking things to an even higher level.

As we reported here, ‘WAP’ – an all-female Rap collaboration (Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion) – sits atop the tally for the first time in history.  As if that’s not enough, hits from the likes of Saweetie (‘Tap In’), Stallion (‘Savage’ and ‘Girls in the Hood’), Doja Cat (‘Say So’ and ‘Like That’), Nicki Minaj (‘Say So’ and ‘Move Ya Hips’), and others are spotted in various positions along the hit list.

Among the new class making noise is RCA Records rapstress Mulatto.

First garnering national attention as the winner of Lifetime’s reality music competition ‘The Rap Game,’ her rise to prominence began with her breakthrough single, ‘B*tch from Da Souf’ (which was later remixed with Saweetie and Trina).

Just days after being named one of only 2 female rappers included in XXL’s coveted ‘Freshman Class’ list for 2020, the femcee (born Alyssa Stephens) learned ‘Souf’ was certified Gold by the RIAA this week and had cracked the Hot 100 for the first time.

While fans of Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd are singing the network’s praises for the recognition bestowed upon their 2019 and 2020 hits, supporters of Nicki Minaj, Camila Cabello, Beyoncé, and more aren’t joining that chorus.

For this generation of Urban music lovers, PARTYNEXTDOOR and Lil Uzi Vert are undoubtedly go-to fixtures.  What’s more, 2020 has easily been a standout year for both.

While the former earned his highest Hot 100 placement yet with the tune ‘Believe It (featuring Rihanna)‘ as well as his best first-week sales to date with its parent album, ‘PARTYMOBILE,’  the latter’s ‘Eternal Atake’ skyrocketed to the Billboard 200’s summit with not only his personal best but some of the 2020’s biggest first week figures (click here to read more).

To their respective horrors, however, those personal career triumphs were not enough to get them inducted into this year’s class of BET Awards nominees as revealed Monday (June 15).

It’s pretty safe to say they didn’t take the news lightly.

With the final numbers being counted and verified as we speak, fans of Doja Cat‘s ‘Say So’ are hoping to see the song reach the summit of the Billboard Hot 100. A sentiment shared by supporters of Nicki Minaj, whose remix of the track has turbo-charged the song’s chances of reaching pole position – which would be the rapper’s first time atop of the tally.

However, Beyonce‘s BeyHive are buzzing angrily over what they feel to be foul play.

See, for much of the week Megan Thee Stallion‘s surprise ‘Savage’ remix featuring Queen Bey looked to be a shoo-in for the #1. But “interesting” tactics from Team ‘Say So’ have made it a battle to the finish.

Ahead of the final chart being unveiled on Monday (May 11th), see what has The Hive so jarred after the jump…
