The fierce fashion at the Met Gala 2013 may have set the net ablaze, however its snaps from inside the event that’ll likely have most talking.

Case, point, Nicki Minaj‘s seemingly innocent photo opp with music mogul and Mariah Carey‘s ex-husband Tommy Mottola. After all, while there’s every chance the Young Money star’s run-in with Mottola could have been coincidental, many will question the timing of the pic given Minaj’s recent Twitter outburst against fellow American Idol judge and ‘#Beautiful’ singer Mimi. Then, of course, there’s Tommy’s recent tell-all book on his time with the multi-octave vocalist. Hmm.

On a less controversial note, peep pics of Madonna posing it up with Beyonce and Frank Ocean below…

Stars from many a field showed up and showed out tonight at the Costume Institute Gala 2013 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The event, which is colloquially known as the ‘Met Gala’, saw a host of Hollywood talent descend into New York City in their finest fabrics for this year’s showcase – which this year boasted a “Punk” theme.

King B, Beyonce, led the pack — dazzling in a Givenchy gown that turned many a head. No signs of jet lag were present on the stage blazer who jetted in from London on a day off from her sold-out Mrs Carter Show World Tour.

Meanwhile, Madonna had folk talking too. Although we’re not sure it was for the same reasons.

Let’s keep it real.

When it comes to building and sustaining a loyal fan base, very few have done it half as well as Madonna.

Now, in reaping the rewards that come with being an iconic, organic inspirational entertainer, she has now reportedly reached billionaire status, after profit from her latest tour sent her total earnings over the 1 billion dollar mark.

Much like our ‘Retro Rewind’ and ‘From the Vault’ segments, readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.  So in a quest to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday we introduced a new retrospective segment – ‘TGJ Replay’.

Unlike its ‘Rewind’ and ‘Vault’ predecessors, ‘Replay’ looks to dust off and showcase albums (and eras) from a library of pop music hits.

Today’s edition, in honor of what truly is a remarkable career, we press play on Madonna’s ‘Evita’ era. An era, which kicked off towards the end of her ‘Bedtime Stories’ and influenced the shape and sound of  1998’s ‘Ray Of Light’.

Hollywood’s buzz for the 2013 Academy Awards is in high gear, but as ever, That Grape Juice loves to stroll down memory lane to salute the best of performances past.  This year we tip our hats to the 1991 performance of ‘Sooner Or Later’ by Queen of Pop Madonna.

The pop vixen, accompanied by date/King of Pop Michael Jackson, took on the task of performing the number from her critically panned film ‘Dick Tracy’.  A film that inversely spawned her biggest and (arguably) most iconic music hit to date – ‘Vogue’.  Regardless, the performance saw Madge pay an updated, post-‘Material Girl’ (video) homage to idol Marilyn Monroe while Jackson, amongst other high profile onlookers, spectated what few would believe was an awesome vocal showcase from the songstress.

Despite being known mostly for racy on air antics and questionable vocal skills prior, the showing saw the diva belting and sustaining notes with a passion and control rarely demonstrated in her previous hits.  Minus her normal troop of dancers, Madge stood center stage with a microphone and mink sole and stole the show (despite her nerves getting the best of her in parts).

Press ‘PLAY’ above and see one of the many steps Miss Madonna took to cement her name beside Michael’s as pop’s reigning royalty.

P.S. – We’d love more of these vocal show-stoppers from Madge before retirement!

 Your thoughts?

With shared ownership of the ‘Queen Of Pop’ title, Beyonce & Madonna stand as two of the only entertainers to enjoy Pop superstardom and critical praise.

So, in acknowledging her competitor’s outstanding run in the industry, Beyonce has praised the ‘Evita‘ star in her spread with ‘The Gentlewoman‘,opening up on why she feels the world needs more women like her.

While still at war with fellow diva Elton John, Queen of Pop Madonna is still finding time to make digs at pop princess Lady Gaga.

As fans long know, the ‘Vogue’ hitmaker notoriously referenced Gaga as being ‘reductive’ in her ‘Born This Way’ spin on Madge’s 1989 hit ‘Express Yourself’ – later claiming its the 2011 track was inspired by Whitney Houston.

A statement which led the pop icon to include a thinly veiled attack to her young counterpart by performing a ‘She’s Not Me/Express Yourself/Born This Way’ mash-up in her own show.

Last night, at a stop in Atlantic City on her highly successful ‘MDNA World Tour’, Madge dedicated a performance of the Golden Globe-winning song ‘Masterpiece’ (from ‘W.E.’) and sent the crowd into a frenzy when she made this announcement:

Not content with pulling out her breasts or baring her behind, Madonna has sunk her claws into Pop rival Lady GaGa once again.

The 54 year old has made no secret of her belief the ‘Bad Romance’ singer borrowed heavily from image, as well as her 1989 hit ‘Express Yourself’ – which she charges birthed the “reductive” ‘Born This Way’.

In a new interview with a Brazilian station, the Material Girl gave quite the chilly response when quizzed on her hand-picked nemesis.

Check out what she had to say after the jump…
