Welcome to the latest TGJ Roundtable!

Over the years, That Grape Juice has established a distinguished voice that – whether loved or loathed – sparks discussion, debate, and on occasion drama!

Though comprised of seasoned writers who share a similar outlook on Urban Pop culture, the idiosyncrasies of the TGJ team members often lend for quite heated debates “behind the scenes” about the hottest topics.

Now, we give you a front row seat to the show. In a format similar to ‘The View’ or ‘The Real’, TGJ editors – Sam, David, Rashad, and Joe – get real in a very candid way.

Today’s roundtable topic asks each anchor their thoughts on the…

Not even Swiffer could clean up the amount of dust rapper/singer Lil Nas X (born Montero Hill) paid reality star Bobby Lytes at this year’s MTV VMAs (August 26) despite what appeared to be multiple attempts to get the ‘Old Town Road’ hitmaker’s attention throughout the telecast.

Riding headlines last month for “shooting his shot” at Hill by sexualizing lyrics from the 20-year-old’s megahit (click here to read more on that), maybe Lytes didn’t think homeboy got the message.  His solution?  Try again in person – or at least that’s what Twitter thinks.

Dragging the ‘Love & Hip Hop’ star for apparently hopping over to X’s row to show off his assless chaps, Bobby was also accused of excessively cheering for the star during his performance and subsequent award acceptance – all of which made for entertaining and sometimes awkward viewing.

As we reported here, Megan Thee Stallion‘s ‘Hot Girl Summer’ – with its #11 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 – has already proven itself to be quite a firestarter on the charts.

Coming as the 24-year-old’s biggest hit on the tally to date, the Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign-assisted cut achieved the sensational premiere on the back of streaming and digital downloads alone – ahead of the release of its official music video.  While fans wait with bated breath for the latter’s release, Stallion took to the MTV VMAs (by her lonesome) to not only render her inaugural performance on the platform but also the first televised showing of the cut.

Hit Boy is the producer to thank for the new banger ‘Bezerk,’ performed by Big Sean.  Tapping A$AP Ferg to assist, the soon-to-be-party-starter slaps as the Detroit native raps:

“Drop down, you a freak, bend it over, touch your feet, Shake that booty / I know it’s little but unique.”

The song premieres just hours before the duo – who previously collaborated on the Rap hit ‘World Is Mine’ – is set to perform it at this year’s MTV VMAs.  Ahead of their stage-blazing showing, look inside for your first listen:

Last year model and entrepreneur Eliza Reign alleged rapper Future (born Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn) ordered her assassination after she refused to terminate her pregnancy with what she believed was his 6th child.

The report – which rang out just weeks before Wilburn welcomed his actual 6th child with model Joie Chavis (click here to read more on that) – also preceded multiple interviews where the emcee went on record to say he wanted more kids (click here to read that).

Now, despite repeatedly stating she’s feared for her safety, Reign is ready to face off with the ‘Mask Off’ maestro in court to prove he is her child’s father and receive the child support she feels she’s due.

Drake may be in “recording mode,” but he’s been keeping the new music a’coming.

Case in point ‘Money In The Grave.’

The Rick Ross assisted track arrived in June (alongside ‘Omertà’) as part of ‘The Best Pack In The World.’ Notably, the cut is the first to be released outside of Drizzy’s Young Money/Cash Money deal. It was ushered into the marketplace by an imprint named Frozen Moments, with distribution via Republic Records.

Having already peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100, can the song soar higher?

With its video now upon us, we wouldn’t be surprised if its streams spark a re-peak.
