Jidenna heralds the release of sophomore album ’85 To Africa’ with the unwrapping of the video for ‘Worth The Weight.’

The Seun Kuti assisted song is the latest from the project to receive the visual treatment, following the clip for ‘Tribe.’

Holistically, ’85 To Africa’ follows Jidenna on a journey back to the motherland after being evicted from his ATL home by no fault of his own.

The trip brought with it ample reflection and saw the rising star blend his dual Western and West African influences with the end result being a solid, more personal, body of work.

Over the past few years modern classic R&B tunes like Monica‘s ‘So Gone,’ Ghost Down DJs’ ‘My Boo,’ and more have experienced a resurgence of sorts thanks to social media.  Now, Grammy-winning rapper DMX can add his name to the list of veteran acts seeing their songs resurrected in the Twitter era.

19 years after his hit, ‘What These B*tches Want’ (featuring Sisqo), dominated Urban airwaves, the Nokio (of Dru Hill)-produced cut is now the center of a viral challenge that celebrates Black women and the diversity of their hairstyles.  As fans remember, the song is an ode to the past loves of X’s life and famously lists them as:

There was Brenda, LaTisha, Linda, Felicia / Dawn, LeShaun, Ines, and Alicia / Teresa, Monica, Sharron, Nicki / Lisa, Veronica, Karen, Vicky / Cookie, well, I met her in a ice cream parlor / Tonya, Diane, Lori, and Carla / Marina, Selena, Katrina, Sabrina / About three Kims, LaToya, and Tina / Shelley, Bridget, Cathy, Rasheeda / Kelly, Nicole, Angel, Juanita / Stacy, Tracie, Rohna, and Ronda / Donna, Ulanda, Tawana, and Wanda.”

The challenge has its participants string together a collage of videos that highlight a different hairdo per name listed.  The comedic movement quickly caught fire on social media and, as a result, has introduced ‘Want’ to a new generation of music lovers.  See how inside:

‘I Kissed a Girl’ singer Katy Perry didn’t only do that to an unsuspecting television personality, recent reports indicated (click here to read), but it’s also alleged she groped the woman.

Just days after her ‘Teenage Dream’ music video co-star, actor Josh Kloss, accused her of sexual misconduct for pulling down his pants and exposing his penis to a crowd (click here to read more), news circulated the 34-year-old diva inappropriately touched Georgian TV host Tina Kandelaki at an industry party.

As the conversation about shifting the lens of the #MeToo movement to problematic women in the industry heated up, Kandelaki backtracked on the report and says she was misquoted and mistranslated.  Her statement refuting the way the press has painted the story did not see her deny the event occurred, however, the journalist asserts Perry’s touchiness was not harassment in the way it’s been depicted.

The Clara Lionel Foundation, an organization named in honor of Pop star/business mogul Rihanna’s late grandmother, raises funds to promote emergency response programs, increasing efforts for global education, and more.  Its crowning glory to date comes courtesy of the annual Diamond Ball – a social event that not only raises money for its primary causes but also has become one of its season’s ‘must attend’ event for industry A-listers.

Annually honoring a humanitarian whose efforts align with the foundation’s vision, the previous winners of the ceremony’s highlight – the coveted Diamond Ball Award – have usually been lauded for being named the year’s honoree.  2019 cannot boast the same, however.  Just hours after Rih took to press to say…

“I can’t imagine a better night than this year’s Clara Lionel Foundation event with Seth Meyers, Pharrell and DJ Khaled,” Rihanna said in a statement obtained by Variety“I am particularly honored to present Prime Minister Mottley and Shaun King with this year’s Diamond Ball Awards for their groundbreaking work. We are so thankful to them for joining us and making the night better than ever.”

Louis York, the duo made up of Grammy award winning creatives Chuck Harmony and Claude Kelly, disperse seeds of love, light and soul into the world with their new jam ‘Don’t You Forget.’

The romantic release dropped hours ago and carves a clear path out for its parent album which sees the duo draw on the work they created for Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Jessie J, Craig David, Rihanna and Bruno Mars to build a musical universe powered by live instruments, lush vocal arrangements and compelling stories.

They told ‘Billboard’:

We weren’t chasing to be artists at all. We’re happy to be behind the scenes. But the more we did, we started to see and hear all the things that were missing in terms of sound and topics and male voices — singing black men, black American voices. We felt like we were charged to filling the gaps, which is what spurred us to do this. It’s a heart mission more than an ego mission.

‘Disappointment in love’ serves as the inspiration for Fantasia‘s new single, ‘PTSD.’

The latest offering from her forthcoming album, ‘Sketchbook,’ Fannie’s enlisted help of T-Pain to bring the slow-tempo banger to life.  Speaking on the track, the Grammy-winner said:

“This was a much edgier song for me but one that I felt was needed on the Sketchbook album. Many people have experienced disappointment in the pursuit of love, but refuse to let one bad experience dictate their entire outlook on love & romance overall.”

Acting as the follow-up to the set’s anthemic lead single, ‘Enough’ (which reached #2 on the Billboard Adult R&B tally), look inside to hear the new track:
