Melissa McCarthy isn’t the only star in the running to play Ursula in the new ‘Little Mermaid‘ movie.
Details below…
With a 20+ year career that reads of dizzying highs (see: Grammy win, millions of records sold, chart-topping hits, and more) and heavily documented personal lows, Brandy‘s unique tale in the music industry is one that knows few parallels.
This may be why the 40-year-old R&B icon feels there’s no more capable actress to portray her in her long-rumored biopic than herself. Taking to our radio friends at WBLS 107.5 (New York) recently, the songstress – celebrating the critical acclaim of her recent release ‘Love Again’ with Daniel Caesar (click here to listen) – dropped by to dish on the creation of the tune, finishing up her long-awaited new solo album, and confirmed work on her own biopic.

Taylor Swift is in the middle of a media firestorm thanks to her lengthy Tumblr post that called out music industry executive Scooter Braun for purchasing her masters (click here to read) – a move that ultimately means she has no ownership of any of her own work that precedes content from her forthcoming album, ‘Lover’ (August 23).
Swift’s catalog – reportedly valued at over $300 million – has been the source of debate for most of the day (June 30) as fans, music industry analysts, and fellow celebs alike have weighed in on the matter. While some have sided with the Grammy winner, as evidenced by the trending hashtag #WeStandWithTaylor, others have remained loyal to Braun and maintain he’s done nothing wrong (click here to read more).
Among those supporting Swift are Miley Cyrus, Halsey, and even her former nemesis, Katy Perry. The latter was among many who took to the net to sign a Change.org petition that calls for Taylor to re-record her first six albums. Details inside:
‘Look What You Made Me Do’ may be exactly what Scott Borchetta, the founder of Big Machine Label Group, was thinking when he dug up receipts to refute Taylor Swift‘s claim that she was blindsided by Scooter Braun‘s acquisition of her masters (valued at a whopping $300 million).
After the Grammy winner took to Tumblr to slam Braun for purchasing her catalog – an acquisition her reps claim she didn’t find out about until it went to press – Braun’s wife and fellow celebs weighed in on the PR disaster (click here to read).
Borchetta, among the attacked by Swift’s devoted fans, is trying to clear his good name and has proof he says will show the singer did know about the deal ahead of time. It should be noted, the 29-year-old – in her lengthy Tumblr post (that can be read by clicking here) – did reveal she was given the opportunity to purchase her masters but only “one album at a time.” Per his newly unveiled documents, Scott says this isn’t true.
More inside:
After publicly slamming famed Hollywood manager Scooter Braun buying her masters as a ‘bullying’ and ‘power play’ against her (click here to read more on that), ‘You Need To Calm Down’ singer Taylor Swift got that very advice from Scooter’s wife, Yael Cohen Braun.
In a lengthy message on Instagram, Yael wields some heavy allegations including claims the Grammy winner was given the option of buying her own masters and passed on it. But, just as her Braun’s wife’s stinging words were gaining traction on the net, many of Swift’s fans – affectionately called #Swifties – launched a scathing attack on Scooter’s social media handles. As they continued their harassment, even some of Taylor’s fellow celebs got in on the action and joined in the campaign to defend her under the hash tag #WeStandWithTaylor.
The hoop-la caught the attention of singer Demi Lovato, who rushed to the aid of Scooter. See all the melee inside:
Upon its June 21st release, ‘7’ – the debut EP of rapper Lil Nas X which houses the megahit ‘Old Town Road’ – was projected to ride to the top of the Billboard 200 by the time of the chart’s refreshing (as we reported here).
Projected to shift 70,000-80,000 SPS (4,000-7,000 pure sales) by the end of its inaugural sales tracking week, the Columbia Records set – which also features appearances from the likes of award-winning artists Billy Ray Cyrus & Cardi B – was in a tight battle with JackWhite-fronted rockers The Raconteurs for this week’s top spot.
With the final figures counted it’s being reported The Raconteurs – thanks to a large ticket bundle and strong indie physical sales of their latest project – outpaced the 20-year-old for the top spot. Look inside to see how many units they shifted to do so:
This week saw the BET Awards 2019 scorch in a major way and That Grape Juice was on-hand for all the action.
Before the likes of Mary J. Blige, Cardi B, and Lizzo lit up the stage, we caught up with a number of stars as they filed into the prestigious Microsoft Theater.
TGJ’s Shar Jossell chatted it up with Ella Mai (who went on to win the Coca-Cola Viewer’s Choice Award), Tami Roman, Trevor Jackson, gospel superstar Jonathan McReynolds, and more.
Check out out round-up above.
Justin Bieber is the latest name to weigh-in on the boiling drama between his manager Scooter Braun and Taylor Swift.
As reported, the music mogul secured the rights to the singer’s master recordings after purchasing her former label Big Machine.
Swift swiftly took to the net to vent – asserting that she knew nothing of the deal until everyone else did and also stressed she’s long had issues with Braun, hence her angst at him specifically owning her life’s work.
With the masses now engaging in heated debate, here’s what Bieber – whose career was shepherded by Braun – had to say (after initially posting and removing a jab)…
Lil Nas X has been omnipresent on the charts with global smash ‘Old Town Road,’ yet very little has been divulged about the rising star himself.
Aiming to change that, the 20-year-old took to social media to share an interesting message. A telling one too.
See what we mean below…
Taylor Swift may be all about spreading positivity on new album ‘Lover,’ but she’s not in the best of moods today.
As reported, Scooter Braun – music mogul and manager to stars such as Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande – purchased the singer’s master’s as part of a broader business acquisition (see: Big Machine record label).
Swift is not impressed and she’s taken to venting publicly. She didn’t hold back either.
Like millions, we’re still catching our breath after Mary J. Blige‘s electrifying Lifetime Achievement performance at the BET Awards 2019.
Before the Queen took to the stage, That Grape Juice caught up with a host of names – including Viewers Choice winner Ella Mai, Tami Roman, Trevor Jackson, and more to discuss her immeasurable impact.
In the fun-filled clip, the stars open up to TGJ’s Shar Jossell about what MJB and her music means to them. Some even burst into song.
