Upon its June 21st release, ‘7’ – the debut EP of rapper Lil Nas X which houses the megahit ‘Old Town Road’ – was projected to ride to the top of the Billboard 200 by the time of the chart’s refreshing (as we reported here).
Projected to shift 70,000-80,000 SPS (4,000-7,000 pure sales) by the end of its inaugural sales tracking week, the Columbia Records set – which also features appearances from the likes of award-winning artists Billy Ray Cyrus & Cardi B – was in a tight battle with JackWhite-fronted rockers The Raconteurs for this week’s top spot.

SHOULD BE.
Madame X fell out. Flop.
WELL, HE BETTER GET USED TO THIS SALES DECLINE. Now that middle America is aware of his same gender loving attractions, a lot of his support is going to dwindle on the commercial front.
Homophobic Hicks were JUST finding mild comforts with this young, black boy being co-signed by a country great to record “their music”.
NOW… he can forget it! These white hillbillies are P|SSED! LOL!
In my opinion, Lil Nas X did not need to make a formal, ambiguous announcement in the first place. He should have allowed his MUSIC to continue to sore!
This is the same ridiculous mistake that Michael Sam made with his very early football career.
…and for the love of God, I HOPE Lil Nas X doesn’t join Lee Daniels, RUPAUL, Karamo Brown, Robin Roberts, Laverne C** & countless others by also having a WHITE on his arm.
Jussie Smollett was the ONLY ONE who loved & supported the brothas. And look how we mistreated him. SMH.
Hoping Lil Nas X isn’t yet another raging disappointment.
Or you could just celebrate the fact that we have several black gay hip hop artists as mainstream acts. But that is too positive
DONT BE FOOLISH.
Lil Nas X had subsequently just announced his retirement. There is no way that the black community or middle America will continue to support his music endeavors. He will now need to make extremely intelligent financial decisions in order to reap the full lifelong benefits of this particular track. It was not smart AT ALL for him to “out” himself.
The music industry is far more RIGID pertaining to black male sexua|ity than Hollywood is for white, gay actors.
This announcement was a BULLET to his flourishing career.
The smart thing to do right now is for him to put a PR Spin on the ambiguous announcement. He should seriously share that he was merely lending his voice & likeness to support all of his LGBT FANS on the final day of pride month.
Otherwise, he won’t have the opportunity to release any more number ones.
Watch now how quickly the song tumbles down the charts.
*soar
Thank you! I caught that too, but there is no EDIT option. I hate that!!
All of this.
Good for him
See that kids? PURE SALES will ALWAYS matter over streaming. Period.
What the ppfuck 4k pure sales can make you reach #2 on Billboard 200 these days??? WOW
