That Grape Juice was on-hand at the 2019 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards and so too was City Girls star Yung Miami.

With hits such as ‘Act Up’ and ‘Twerk’ dominating the airwaves, Miami and group member JT are proving that they are more than equipped to overcome any hurdle placed in front of them. Several of which are well-documented.

While chatting with TGJ’s Shar Jossell, the pregnant femcee opened up about how Trina impacted her artistry, plans for a possible TV show, and more.

Your thoughts?

When ‘Love & Hip-Hop’ took home the Reality Royalty honor at the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards, the shade was thick. Not so much from viewers at home, but more so from the rival shows in the audience.

The eye-rolling and jaws ajar sparked many a clapback – including from franchise creator Mona Scott-Young.

That Grape Juice caught up with the TV veteran at the 2019 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards, where she spilled on why she wasn’t here for the jabs.

With Pride month upon us, Mona also explained the importance of telling the stories of LGBTQ cast members on her platform.

The trio carry the torch from the angels millennials will remember most (Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Lui – who anchored the 2000 re-telling and its 2003 sequel).

To amplify the buzz for Elizabeth Banks‘ version, a first look trailer has been unleashed featuring new song ‘Angel’ by Pop stars Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and Lana Del Rey. Grande has revealed that she co-produced the entire soundtrack too.

As rumors of a romance between herself and ‘Senorita’ co-star Shawn Mendes heat up, Camila Cabello made headlines yesterday (June 25) for a breakup with her British boyfriend Matthew Hussey.  Hussey, a famed dating coach, is said to have dated the former Fifth Harmony hitmaker (10 years his junior) for a year before recently calling it quits.

While reports of the split rocked headlines, fans of the songstress – affectionately called #Camilizers – have taken to the net to slam the 32-year-old and even made threats. The hoop-la got so out of control Cabello took to her own social media handles to scold the group.

‘I Feel For You’ hitmaker Chaka Khan didn’t hide her feelings when she took to Andy Cohen‘s ‘Watch What Happens Live’ recently to discuss her feelings on Whitney Houston, Prince, Aretha Franklin, and Kanye West‘s famed sample of her hit song, 1984’s ‘Through the Fire.’

The 66-year-old R&B legend, on hand to promote her new wig collection and burgeoning music projects, was quizzed on her legendary career and thoughts on contemporaries.  Along the way she dropped a surprising bombshell that she’d collaborated with Pop “it girl” Ariana Grande for the soundtrack of a forthcoming film (presumed to be the new ‘Charlie’s Angels’ soundtrack).  However, when asked about her opinion of West’s 2004 hit ‘Through the Wire’ (which samples her song ‘Through the Fire’), Khan’s response was fiery to say the least.

The wins just keep getting handed to rapper Lil Nas X.

The 20-year-old, whose Billy Ray Cyrus-assisted megahit ‘Old Town Road’ is enjoying its 12th week at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (click here to read more), has learned the tune’s parent project – the ‘7’ EP – is riding toward similar chart glory on the Billboard 200.

For the second time in two months Taylor Swift‘s been blocked from the top of the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to rapper Lil Nas X‘s megahit, ‘Old Town Road.’

After early May 2019 saw the Grammy winner’s Brendon Urie-assisted tune, ‘Me!,’ debut at #2 on the tally behind the Country Hip Hop cut, this week Swift’s latest number – ‘You Need To Calm Down’ – met a similar fate.  ‘Calm’ – the second single from Swift’s forthcoming LP ‘Lover’ – dominated headlines last week for its pro-LGBT themes, star-studded music video (which prominently featured a reconciliation with longtime nemesis, Katy Perry), and for stirring controversy by allegedly ripping off scenes from Beyonce‘s 2011 ‘Party’ music video (click here to read more).

Now, with its inaugural tracking week of sales, streaming, and radio airplay behind it, the song’s made an impressive debut on the Billboard charts.  Yet, not impressive enough as ‘Road’ – in its 12th week of riding the top of the charts – was still able to keep the Joel Little-produced Pop tune at bay.  Billboard reports:

“Calm” opens atop Digital Song Sales with 79,000 sold, marking Swift’s record-extending 17th No. 1 on the chart (ahead of runner-up Rihanna’s 14). …”Calm” starts at No. 3 on Streaming Songs (39 million) and No. 50 on Radio Songs (24.2 million).

As has become commonplace, the BET Awards – Urban music’s biggest night – has been crowned a ratings winner!

Thanks to show-stopping performances from the likes of Cardi B, Lizzo, Mary J. Blige, H.E.R., and more, this year’s edition may be scribbled in history books as the ceremony’s lowest rated telecast ever but it still managed to continue the trend of seeing the network ahead of the Sunday night cable competition.
