Her stock as a Pop star may be higher than it’s ever been, but it would seem Iggy Azalea may have a long way to go before proving herself as a lyricist.

For, despite standing tall as the breakout act of 2014, this week has seen the star hit with fresh criticism, whipped up by an interview she did long before she became the chart-topping force she is today.

Why she’s now become the butt of social media’s latest joke?

Some of rap history’s biggest sellers, from Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross to Nelly, Pitbull, and Flo Rida have all had their rap (and street) credibility questioned at one point in their careers.  None listed, however, were rebuked with the intensity of criticism like that aimed at Iggy Azalea.

From barely a buzz to a bulls-eye, she went from obscurity to enemy #1 in just a year.

Besides the unique position of being a white female emcee from Australia who rapped with a southern U.S. accent, not much else surrounded the newcomer’s name initially. In fact, this time last year she seemed poised to take rank with the many other unsung female rappers trying to find a place in the male-dominated game.

Despite backing from one of the genre’s frontrunners (T.I.) and a number of well-prepared videos to boot, success would not knock on the rapstress’s door until the unveiling of the pop-cloaked number ‘Fancy’ and its ‘Clueless’-themed music video. In conjunction with a timely “assistant role” on rising pop starlet Ariana Grande‘s hit ‘Problem,’ Iggy, seemingly out of nowhere, was thrust to the top of mainstream music consciousness.

Undoubtedly a dream come true for any female rapper, especially a Caucasian one traipsing a path so many before her had failed (see:  Sarai, Kreayshawn), that dream would prove itself a nightmare as all but the very genre she pursued would openly embrace her.

Has “winning” caused Iggy to lose hip hop’s respect?

During this year’s ‘MTV Video Music Awards’, K. Michelle ruffled the feathers of Lil Kim fans when she referred to her rival Nicki Minaj as the “Queen of Rap.”

Shortly after, Kim took to radio show ‘The Breakfast Club‘ to slam Michelle for blasting her fans when they slammed her remark, going on to accuse the ‘Drake Would Love Me‘ singer of fabricating the relationship she said they shared.

How Michelle responded when she hit the ‘Club‘ today? Give her the nickname ‘Plastic Penny’ and suggest that she doesn’t recall the niceties they exchanged because “her face is stretched back too tight.”

Much like the iconic Panic Attack” scene in the comedy ‘Airplane‘, it seems every one and their mom waits in line to lay one on Rap superstar Iggy Azalea.

For, after being called racist and self-absorbed by ‘Salon’s Sonia Saraiya, the ‘Beg For It’ lyricist has now seen her ethics thrown into disrepute by ‘Hollywood Stars’ rapper Gangsta Boo, who has accused the rapper of “paying for awards.”

This, after DeadMau5 mocked her ability as a rapper and after her ex ‘Interscope’ sister Azealia Banks slammed her for racially charged remarks she made before the release of her hit single ‘Fancy.’

Using Nicki Minaj‘s ‘flow’ from the buzz single ‘Lookin’ Ass‘, ‘Bagpipes of Baghdad’ rapper Eminem dissed Pop princess Iggy Azalea hours ago, shocking music lovers when he took aim at the star here.

Coming years after they shared a mentor in former ‘Interscope’ big wig Jimmy Iovine, Em’s diss has now earned a response from the ‘Fancy’ singer, “bored of old men threatening young women.”

After being labelled “fake” by his Young Money mate Tyga this week, some wondered just how ‘What If I Kissed You’ performer Drake would respond to the diss.

Today, they needn’t wonder anymore. For in a move that’ll no doubt have some critics calling the rapper petty, he has opted to let his index finger-and not his mouth- to do all the talking.

Details on his digital clap back below…

Though little can be done to throw her single-selling abilities into disrepute, there’s been some effort to poke serious holes into Iggy Azalea‘s credibility as artist by those unimpressed by what she brings to Pop’s table.

Not helped by misinformed journalists hoping to present her as Hip Hop’s fastest rising star, Azalea has found herself tasked with facing the following three criticisms since her debut in 2011.

The first, being her adoption of an Ebonic-kissed Southern American accent despite hailing from New South Wales.

The second, being that industry connections-and not her own crossover appeal- is to thank for her meteoric rise on Top 40 and Rhythmic radio.

The last? That she employs ghostwriters to pen her material for her.

Now, despite being named as one of the writers on her smash hit single ‘Fancy’, her mentor T.I. has slammed the last of the three, revealing that the Rapper “has her own ideas.”

Despite having over 20 years of hits to their name, millions of albums sold, and even recently wrapping up a successful leg of their comeback tour, TLC‘s recent public appearances have only seen them bombarded with questions about pop princess Rihanna.

After being slammed by the ‘Where Have You Been’ bleater on Twitter for an assumed diss, the singers – namely lead songstress T-Boz – have been fending off attack from Ri’s faithful #Navy.

No stranger to cyberbullying after Beyonce‘s #Beyhive and Nicki Minaj‘s #Barbz both lent the ‘Unpretty’ performer an abundance of not-so-well-wishes, T-Boz recently took to TheDailyHelpLine to weigh in on the topic of bullies and a host of other hot topics and current events.

Check in at the 1 minute mark to see her thoughts on Ri and that “incident”…

Iggy Azalea strikes a pose for ‘Cosmopolitan Australia’ this month, sizzling on the magazine’s cover seven years after leaving the country to pursue a Rap career in Miami, Florida.

Pushing a ‘rags to riches” story on the star, the mag’s time with her comes after she slammed the nation’s treatment of Aboriginal people, revealing that she believes that some Australians still hold stereotypical views of them.

The top.

Indeed, today has seen ‘Forbes’ unveil their ‘Celebrity 100‘ tally and announce that the ‘Partition’ performer stands as the most powerful influential celebrity in the world, casting a dollar sign printed shadow on the likes of Usher, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Nicki Minaj, Eminem and Jay Z.

It was billed as “the comeback”. However, after a week of availability, the flame that heated the buzz for Mariah Carey‘s new single ‘You’re Mine (Eternal)’ has but burned out.

As at writing, the track sits at #376 on US iTunes. Yes, three-hundred-and-seventy-six.

A tale of unfortunate proportions, the placing sees the song chart under releases that impacted several years ago. Indeed, the likes Beyonce’s ‘Halo’ (2008), Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’ (2011), and even Nicki Minaj’s ‘Super Bass’ (2010), all rank higher on the tally. Even Mario’s ‘Let Me Love You’ (2004) places above ‘Mine’.

And granted a rebound is plausible as the cut has just been sent to radio and further performances are lined up, the jaw-dropping dip suggests only a marginal rise is likely.

So what is the “problem”?
