Check out this behind the scenes look at the video for Trina‘s ‘Million Dollar Girl’ – the first single to be lifted from her ‘Amazin’ LP (due May 4th).

Judging by the above clip, it looks like this will Ms. Taylor’s best video yet!

Rapper Trina shot the video for her latest single ‘Million Dollar Girl’ with Diddy (who features on the trakc) earlier this week. In these snaps, which surfaced via KidUNot, it appears the self-proclaimed ‘Baddest B*tch’ and the business mogul got rather close. Check out more pics below:

This week’s Cover Star is Loretta Grace. The Milan, Italy native gives an awesome rendition of Whitney Houston’s comeback single ‘Million Dollar Bill’. Check it out below (song starts at about the 0.39 mark):

As well as the  powerful vocals, I particularly enjoyed hearing Loretta’s Italian accent / pronunciation while singing; it definitely made for her to put her own stamp on the song. Good stuff!

The self-proclaimed ‘baddest b*tch’ Trina is back with new album new single ‘Million Dollar Girl’ – featuring Keri Hilson and Diddy. Set to serve as the lead cut from her forthcoming LP ‘Amazin’, the song unsurprisingly finds the female MC in familiar territory lyrically (see: bragging/flossing). Yet despite my want, as a supporter of Ms. Taylor, for her to bring something new to the table lyrically, the track still manages to not sound bad, I guess.

That said, though the Keri Hilson and Diddy features bode quite well for the song’s chances of success on paper, their features are also somewhat problematic. For one, the chorus, courtesy of Ms. Keri-Baby, is repetitive and lyrically quite redundant, while Diddy’s verse is kinda blah (no surprises there though). More than anything, Trina kinda sounds like a feature artist on her own song. Yes, featuring current and noted artists on a song is always a good look, but getting lost in the mix on one’s own track isn’t.

Hit or Miss?

Following her headline grabbing performance on the UK version of the X-Factor, diva Whitney Houston made a special appearance tonight on the Italian incarnation of the show to perform ‘Million Dollar Bill’.

Having watched this one live, I was the edge of my seat as I am with all Whitney performances these days (for a number of reasons) -but oh did Whitney deliver! Hands-down the best performance of the song to date, and arguably one of Whitney’s best performances since embarking on her comeback. Really a testament to the fact that ‘The Voice Is Back’. Great, vocals, great energy, great performance!

What do you think of the performance?

Legendary diva and comeback queen Whitney Houston took to the stage on tonight’s X-Factor results show to perform new single ‘Million Dollar Bill (Freemasons Mix)’. As with most things ‘Whitney’ these days, her appearance on the show was almost exclusively the main talking point on everybody’s lips.

As for the actual performance, I really, really enjoyed this. Ms. Houston commanded that stage like the unashamed diva that she is. Work! Her  energy and overall stage presence were so off-the-charts that they compensated for the still-rather-good (for 2009 Whitney) vocals. In what I hope doesn’t become a big deal, Nippy’s ‘wardrobe malfunction’ was in reality a minor and she continued on like the professional she is, poking fun at it at the end.

The interview at the end, upon watching it live, had me (and a whole lot of other folk) giving a collective ‘What in the blue hell?’ For whatever the reason, Ms. Houston wasn’t quite ‘with it’, this evidenced by her not having much of  clue when the album was to be released, the constant looking at the floor, fidgety composure, and the lengthy gap in answering some of the questions. That said, I do not agree with some of whispers-turned-loud accusations that Whitney is back to her troubled times. I strongly doubt it’s that. I guess only she know’s the reading. However, after talking everything there is to talk about with Oprah, it’d be great if her team did a Britney Spears and limit the talking/doing interviews and have her just perform.

Diddy and Dirty Money stopped by BET’s 106 & Park to promote their new ‘Last Train To Paris’ project. As well as that, Diddy addresses his move from Atlantic over to Interscope, as well as the future of his acts over at Bad Boy/Atlantic.

I don’t know if it was just me, but even after Diddy’s ‘explanation’ as to what’s happening with his artists, I was still very confused by what exactly he was trying to say. To be honest, I don’t even think he know’s where he was going with that one. I mean all previous reports indicated that he was starting a new label over at Interscope, with Bad Boy remaining at Atlantic; yet now (correct me if wrong) he seems to be saying his launching Bad Boy over at Interscope with some, but not all of the previous roster. Ugh…confused.com.

Kinda going a tad off-topic, I can’t help but feel Diddy even still having a rap career is nothing more than an ego-stroke. When everyone and their mother thinks you suck as an artist (and have forever), and you struggle to sell despite throwing MILLIONS at your last project (see: ‘Press Play’), why is he bothering? It sounds a bit harsh, but for a multi-million dollar mogul, you’d think he’d be a bit more business savvy than that. When has anyone ever rated Puffy as an artist? It’s 2009, it’s pretty much a joke thinking that in the world of Kanye’s and Jay-Z’s, that a Diddy rap record is gonna excite folks (see: the chart performance of ‘Last Train”s lead single ‘Angels’).

Comeback queen Whitney Houston continues her promotional tour of Europe, just a few minutes ago performing new single ‘Million Dollar Bill’ on popular French show Le Grand Journal. Peep the performance above.

While not Whitney’s best live vocal outing (by a long shot), I really enjoyed this performance; the band were jamming, the back-up singers were on fire and Whitney held her own (at certain times moreso than others). Baby steps, I guess.

That said, word has it Ms. Houston was spotted lighting up a cigarette during her French visit. While it’s no secret that she has been smoking cigarettes in the past, when you’re dubbed ‘The Voice’, it makes little to no sense to be compromising her main instrument. Aside from that, she’s been churning out rather consistent performances since her comeback (Good Morning America aside), so the future looks bright – she was having a great time up on the stage.

Tidbit: Be sure to watch the interview after the performance, there’s a great acapella of ‘I Look To You’. Off-topic, she’s so diva…(“I’ve gone beyond the queen of R&B”) LOL. Got to love the self-confidence.

The video for Whitney Houston’s new single ‘Million Dollar Bill’ premiered today, as we EXCLUSIVELY reported it would weeks ago. Directed by Melina, the clip does a wonderful job of capturing the Old Skool essence of the song, yet has modern feel to it as well. Whitney looks stunning in this too. With a bit of a promotional push, I can really see this doing big things. Great video.

Whitney Houston - 'Million Dollar Bill' (First Single)Whitney Houston’s much anticipated comeback single ‘Million Dollar Bill’ made its debut in full a few hours ago to much fanfare. True to this site’s stance on not sugar-coating ish or jumping on hype without reason, I must say I’m honestly a little disappointed with this.
As much I wanted to like the record, particularly in light of the hype the listening session reports created around it, I felt short-changed upon hearing the track for myself. Dated, a lil cheesy and not really lead single material, this doesn’t scream ‘I’m back!’ at all IMO. While it may end up being a grower, a single with so much riding on it really shouldn’t have to be a ‘grower’. In as much as we’re rooting for Whitney, sometimes you just have to call it as it is…
On the up side, Whitney probably sounds the best she has on ”Bill’ than she does on any of the tracks we’ve heard from her ‘I Look To You’ album thus far.

Despite 50 Cent’s plummeting popularity, reports are claiming that the G-Unit leader is set to sign a new ‘360’ deal with Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation which is said to be worth a whopping $300 Million. Check out the report via Contact Music below:

The In Da Club hitmaker is in final negotiations with Murdoch’s News Corp firm – which owns social networking site MySpace – for a large stake in all aspects of the 50 Cent brand, including music, concerts, books and his label G-Unit Records.

If the agreement goes ahead, G-Unit Records and its roster of artists will move under News Corp’s MySpace Records umbrella.

According to reports, half of the $300 million deal will be in stock, potentially making 50 Cent – real name Curtis Jackson – one of the biggest News Corp shareholders.

However, the deal is not expected to be finalised until next year (09) – allowing the star to fulfil all of his contractual obligations with his current label, Interscope Records.

Unless 50’s music career has a turn-around soon, News Corp will be buying into a sinking brand IMO. The ‘Kanye Chart Battle’ episode reinforced that. Yes, he’s still a relatively big seller, but it speaks volumes that after the much hyped ‘battle’, ‘Curtis’ dropped like a rock on the charts. With every release since his 2003 debut, 50 has sold less and less. I guess time will tell if this works out…
