Rising stars like Doja Cat and Megan The Stallion may be able to attest to the power of TikTok as a promotional tool to help hoist songs to higher regions on the Hot 100, but so can their more seasoned counterparts like Kesha and Jason Derulo.

The latter has become a poster child of sorts for the benefits of strategic marketing using the platform as his time and monetary investments into the controversial social media venture have proven themselves fruitful multi-fold.

Having already boasted making millions from his own trendy TikTok videos, now – thanks to increasing interest of a dance challenge for his latest song ‘Savage Love’ – the 30-year-old has found himself re-entering the Hot 100 for the first time in a long time.

Megan Thee Stallion could be well on her way to the biggest hit of her career courtesy of her latest single, ‘Savage.’

Found aboard the femcee’s latest top 10 EP, ‘Suga,’ the J. White Did It-produced cut has enjoyed a wave of success on digital sales and streaming platforms over the last few weeks thanks to a viral Tik Tok craze that challenges the app’s users (including celebrities) to upload videos of themselves doing choreography to it (like we reported here).

The enduring popularity of ‘Savage’ on social media outlets is finally reflecting in its Hot 100 run as evidenced by the most refreshed edition of the tally.  Seeing ‘Savage’ strut to #20 as the result of a whopping 78-spot leap, the bop’s impressive jump brings with it two milestones for Meg.  Not only is it the second top 20 single of her career (following 2019’s Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign-assisted ‘Hot Girl Summer’), but it’s also her first time in that region of the chart unaccompanied.  All this ahead of the release of its official music video!

As we extend congratulations to the burgeoning diva, look below to see who joins her in the top 25 on this week’s episode of ‘TGJ Chart Check: Hot 100.’

As we reported here, Jhené Aiko‘s third album, ‘Chilombo, entered the Billboard 200 this week at #2 thanks to a whopping 152,000 units shifted its first week.

The premiere position not only came as a personal best for the 32-year-old, but the units sold are the highest of her career to date.  Those figures were undoubtedly bolstered by tunes on the project’s critically acclaimed tracklist, which feature some of today’s biggest Urban movers and shakers including Nas, John Legend, Ty Dolla $ign, Future, Miguel, and H.E.R.

Pertaining to the latter (born Gabriella Wilson), peruse of the Hot 100 this week saw ‘B.S.’ – her guest appearance on ‘Chilombo’ – make a top 30 debut.  A personal best for the ‘Hard Place’ singer, look below to see how she and Jhené gained a win this week:

March 6 brought with it the highly anticipated release of Jhené Aiko‘s third album, ‘Chilombo.’

Led to chart battle by singles ‘Triggered,’ ‘None of Your Concern (featuring boyfriend Big Sean), and ‘P*$$Y Fairy,’ the star-studded LP  – which also counted some of Urban music’s biggest names like Nas, H.E.R., John Legend, Ab-Soul, Ty Dolla $ign, Future, Miguel, and more as guests – was an out-of-the-box critical success as it received thumbs up from some of the industry’s most recognized critics.

Originally predicted to see that fanfare mirrored commercially to the tune of 90,000 units shifted its first week (as we first reported here), that figure almost doubled when receipts were counted for the singer’s tour bundle which allowed one copy of ‘Chilombo’ to accompany any ticket purchased for her forthcoming ‘Magic Hour Tour’ (click here for dates).

The result?  Aiko debuted on this week’s Billboard 200 with the highest first week sales of her career. Details inside:

The Billboard 200’s top 5 is set to see some serious girl power next week thanks to two of Urban music’s most highly anticipated sets – Jhené Aiko‘s third album, ‘Chilombo,’ and Megan Thee Stallion‘s, ‘Suga.’

The former, the first effort from Aiko since peaking at #5 with 2017’s ‘Trip,’ is already winning on the critical front as it’s nabbed thumbs up from some of the industry’s most respected critics.  A star-studded, 20-song affair featuring the likes of Nas, Big Sean, H.E.R., John Legend, Ab-Soul, Ty Dolla $ign, Future, Miguel, and more, analysts are reporting early reads of ‘Chilombo’s sales suggest the LP could deliver the highest Billboard 200 premiere of her career to date.

Conversely, ‘Suga’ – the newest EP from Stallion – may have a limited guest list (only Kehlani and rapper Gunna), but what it lacks in features it makes up in star power behind the board.  Boasting production credits from The Neptunes, Timbaland, Lil Ju, J-White, Helluva, Tommy Brown, and more, predictive data suggests ‘Suga’ could be the first Billboard top 5 entry of the Houston hottie’s career.
