Jermaine Dupri has crafted classics for countless acts, but two of the most notable – Mariah Carey and Usher – were on-hand to help him celebrate perhaps his biggest achievement yet: induction into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame.
Sponsored by Moet & Chandon, the New York event dually honored Dupri’s SHOF entry and the 25th anniversary of his So So Def imprint.
Over the course of the 45-year-old’s illustrious career, he has co-written colossal hits such as ‘We Belong Together’ [Carey], ‘Burn’ [Usher], and ‘The First Night’ [Monica].
And though Dupri’s reach spans many genres such, his releases as an artist have fallen under the Hip-Hop umbrella. Hence, making him the second Hip-Hop ever act to receive a spot (after JAY-Z became the first last year).
Toasting to her longtime friend and collaborator following the ceremony, Carey shared the snap above with the caption:
Congratulations @jermainedupri on getting inducted into the @songwritershof!! See ya in the studio to continue making magic ??? #WeBelongTogether #Honey#AlwaysBeMyBaby #ManyMore
