Those who complained about the male domination of 2017’s Hot 100 charts may see themselves repeating the complaint in 2018 as the tally is being ruled yet again by men.

As we reported here, last week Drake made Billboard and Spotify history when his latest tune – ‘God’s Plan’ – saw him enter the singles chart at #1.  With this week’s refreshed charts seeing him roosted on the Hot 100 perch for a second consecutive week, the Young Money rapper was greeted with even more news – he’s now earned his 70th top 40 hit (160th Hot 100 entry overall) thanks to a feature on rap trio Migos’ latest hit, ‘Walk It Talk It.’

Found aboard their recent chart-topping album, ‘Culture II,’ the tune is one of 14 to land on the Hot 100 this week.  The accomplishment ties them with legendary rockers The Beatles for most simultaneous entries on the chart.  As we extend our congratz to both Migos and Drake, tuck in to see who join them in the top 40 on this week’s ‘TGJ Chart Check:  Hot 100’ edition:

It’s no question Justin Timberlake will occupy the top spot on next week’s Billboard 200 with his next album, ‘Man of the Woods.’  What’s of concern to his faithful followers, however, is the report the set is on track to move his lowest first week numbers to date.

As we reported here, the set – released February 2 – was initially predicted to move 315-325,000 its first week.  However, as the projection was rendered before his show-stopping Super Bowl Halftime show, many assumed the figure would increase drastically after the highly rated showing.

That assumption, as Billboard is reporting, has proven itself false.  Details inside:

Well documented is the dismal dip that derailed her once-unstoppable train of success.  And, in doing away with the “pretend it never happened” approach most Pop stars opt for, Perry has revealed that she’s more than aware of her predicament following the commercial tanking of her ‘Witness’ album.

Colorism, best defined as “prejudice against people of a certain skin tone, especially from members of the same race,” remains a hot topic among many races – especially people of African or Latin descent.  As the fire surrounding debates on the issue rage on, music mogul/manager Matthew Knowles adds his two cents to the conversation with his latest book, ‘Racism:  From the Eyes of a Child.’

Dropping some jaw-dropping quotable moments throughout the text, Knowles took to our friends at Ebony recently in promotion of the set in an interview that not only highlighted moments of colorism throughout his life, but specifically weighed in on the issue in his own family – namely with ex-wife Tina Knowles and daughter Beyonce.

Admitting that he at one time he only dated White women or women who looked White, he was also sure to emphasize his idea that pop icon daughter’s light skin directly contributes to her fame:
