Jessie J is bringing her ‘Queen’ to life.

The vocal powerhouse is strutting on with the push for her regal new single, this week shooting its accompanying video.

Produced by DJ Camper, the track is the official lead offering from the songbird’s upcoming album ‘R.O.S.E’ (an acronym for ‘Realizations Obsessions Sex Empowerment’).

We’ve had ‘Queen’ on royal replay here at That Grape Juice and feel its lyrics (“I love my body…I love my skin…I am a goddess…I am a queen”) will resonate with many.

Scribbled in history books for some good and not-so-good reasons, 2017 brought with it some of modern music’s most memorable moments.  Now, as the year draws to a close, TGJ is reflecting on our favorite moments that rocked – and to some degree reshaped – the Urban and Pop musical landscape as we know it.

Next, we look back at the unfortunate terrorist attack on Manchester, England that brought the whole world together in unity thanks to no small effort from pop diva Ariana Grande:

No backlash, social media ridicule, or all out war with network producers will get in the way of redemption for Mariah Carey.  And, let’s face it…who knows a comeback story better than Mariah Carey?

The pop diva, whose illustrious career has seen her counted out many-a-time over its 27-year tenure, is ready to show detractors once and for all.  That’s right;  taking to Instagram minutes ago, Carey announced she will grace the Dick Clark ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ stage again for a redemptive performance after delivering her worst televised performance to date on that very platform this time last year [click here to relive the horror].

Eminem officially threw his hat into the fourth quarter race this week with the release of new album, ‘Revival.’

The project, which serves as Slim Shady’s 9th studio effort and his most star-studded yet, features a plethora of power players including Beyonce, Pink, and Ed Sheeran – the latter of whom guests on the set’s reported next single, ‘River’ [click here to hear it].

A chart titan historically, did Em (despite his lowest predicted sales to date) live up to said billing this go round?

The preliminary first week number are in and the answer awaits below…

Contrary to popular belief, revenue generated by pure album sales still stand as a vital part of the music industry.

On a global front, Nicki Minaj‘s numbers made her the highest-selling female rapper for the seventh year running and in the U.S. Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar stand tall with figures which have seen them top the Year-End pure sales album tally.

Good and bad news awaits below…

Scribbled in history books for its fair share of good and awesomely bad reasons, 2017 brought with it some of modern music’s most memorable moments.  Now, as the year draws to a close, TGJ is reflecting on our favorite happenings that rocked – and to some degree reshaped – the Urban and Pop musical landscape as we know it.

Next, we reflect on the celebrity divorces and breakups that sent headlines into a spin.  From Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill to Janet Jackson, Tamar Braxton & Vincent Herbert, and the [ongoing] fallout from Mary J. Blige‘s 2016-announced divorce, celebrity splits ignited many-a-story on That Grape Juice this year.

Tuck in below for the year’s highlights:

The visual journey Kendrick Lamar has taken his fans on with his new album ‘DAMN’ has been stellar to say the least.

Today, another Dave Meyers-directed piece joins the family before the year’s end.

What for? The song ‘LOVE.’

Give me a run for my money
There is nobody, no one to outrun me
(Another world premier!)
So give me a run for my money
Sipping bubbly, feeling lovely, living lovely
Just love me
I wanna be with you, ayy, I wanna be with
I wanna be with you, ayy, I wanna be with
I wanna be with you

Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.

So, as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’  allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature Chart Rewind – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.

This week we’ll shake things up with ‘Milkshake,’ the first single from Grammy-nominated Urban alternative artist Kelis‘ tertiary album, ‘Tasty.’  Written and produced by The Neptunes (Chad Hugo, Pharrell Williams), the tune was originally pitched to pop superstar Britney Spears but was passed on by her team in favor of other cuts that lined the ‘In the Zone’ album (click here to read our ode to that project). Landing right in the lap of singer/songwriter Kelis – who was still reeling from the commercial failure of her sophomore set, ‘Wanderland’ – her recording of ‘Milkshake’ looked to be just what the doctor ordered for her career.  Going on to become her signature song for its tongue-in-cheek lyrics and delectable instrumentation, late 2003 saw the tune quickly make its way up the Hot 100 ladder and eventually peaking at #3 this week that year.

To date ‘Milkshake’ remains her best-selling single and only release to reach the top 10 on the tally (let alone the top 5).  Join us as we travel back 14 years ago to a time when Kelis brought all the boys to the yard with this infectious bop:
