The annual gathering, which takes place the day before music’s biggest calendar night tomorrow, was this year attended by the likes of Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Diddy, DJ Khaled, Remy Ma, Fat Joe, Iggy Azalea, Jaden Smith, Monica, Nick Jonas, and more.

The popularity of streaming is changing the shape of the game. And while it’s seeing some artists disappear into the Pop abyss, it’s directly facilitating the success of others.

Just ask Migos.

The Hip-Hop outfit released their sophomore album ‘Culture II’ yesterday and early estimates have it on track to deliver big – thanks to streaming.

As reported, the vocal wonder is competing on a celebrity show in the region and while we still don’t know what the ultimate prize is, we do know that’s she’s slaying.

Last week saw the British belter go viral with an incredible rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Have Nothing.’ And to follow-up, she dusted off another classic sing-a-long-song. She performed the Fugees version of Roberta Flack’s ‘Killing Me Softly.’

As far as talent goes, Justin Timberlake remains one of the greatest artists to grace Pop’s courts within the last twenty years.

Unfortunately, it appears that he is struggling to compete with his younger rivals Bruno Mars and Drake who have wiped the floor with him on the British singles chart.

Toni Braxton is back and blazing the promotional trail in support of new Lifetime movie ‘Faith Under Fire’ and upcoming album ‘Sex & Cigarettes.’

The legend’s latest stop was ‘Sway In The Morning,’ where she waxed candid about both projects.

Set to air tonight, ‘Faith’ sees Braxton take on the role of a single mom from Georgia who saved hundreds of lives when she convinced a mentally ill gunman to stand down in his attempt to hurt children in a Decatur elementary school.

Elsewhere, the 50-year-old spilled on what fans can expect from her first LP in seven years when it arrives later this year.

Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.

So, as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’  allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature Chart Rewind – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.

This week we get to know Alicia Keys’ hit 2003 single ‘You Don’t Know My Name’ all over again.  Produced by Kanye West‘Name’ – a 70s-inspired, doo-wop cut – featured background vocals from then-little known singer/songwriter John Legend.  Kicking off the singer’s highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘Diary of Alicia Keys’ (click here to read our full ode to that project), the tune was a mainstay in the top 10 on the Hot 100 at its popularity height and eventually nested at #3 where it peaked this week 14 years ago.

Tuck in below to reminisce and see who joined her in the Hot 100 this week in 2004:

Will the third time be the charm for Justin Timberlake‘s (seemingly) ill-fated new album, ‘Man of the Woods’?  If the response to the set’s tertiary single, ‘Say Something’ (featuring Chris Stapleton) is any indication, the answer is a resounding “yes”!

As fans know, the first two releases from ‘Man of the Woods’ – the funky/futuristic ‘Filthy’ & country/hip-hop-hinged ‘Supplies’ – have been mainstays in the top 20 on digital sales charts since their respective releases, but they were both blocked from topping the tally by the likes of Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars (as we reported here), Camila Cabello, and more.

Fast forward three weeks later to the anthemic ‘Say Something’ and it appears JT is en route to the hit he’s been waiting for.  Just a day after its video’s premiere, ‘Something’ has not only topped the iTunes charts (a feat its predecessors couldn’t boast), but has already amassed over 4 million views on Youtube.  To put that into perspective, ‘Supplies’ – which premiered on January 18 – has only garnered 11 million views (as of time reported).

Lauded for its unique and suspenseful take on the happenings behind the scenes at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), BET’s primetime drama ‘The Quad’ – led by Tony Award-winning/Grammy-nominated actress Anika Noni Rose – burst onto the scene last year a winner among critics and fans.

Debuting with a 2-hour pilot, a la BET’s other hit drama, ‘Being Mary Jane,’ the response to the film was clear indication viewers wanted to know more about the show’s well-developed characters.  Once season 1 wrapped in March 2017, there was little buzz surrounding the show until late last year when promo began to circulate around its season 2 return.

That return, January 23rd at 10/9c, may have had Twitter ticking, but official ratings reflect anything but excitement.  Seeing a significant dip in viewership (compared to that of most episodes in season 1), tuck in below to see just how many people tuned in: (more…)

Fifth Harmony are all about unity – now more than ever. But next week will see the members of the popular group duke it out on Lip Sync Battle.

And, in a cool angle, most of the ladies will be transforming into fly female superstars.

Indeed, Normani is taking on a ‘Bootylicious’ Beyonce, Lauren will aim to amaze as Amy Winehouse, while Ally heats up the stage as Jennifer Lopez and Dinah dazzles as …a character from Disney flick ‘Moana’ (we did say “most”).

Ahead of the broadcast next Thursday at 10pm on Spike, peep pics and a teaser clip below…
