Talk about news we didn’t see coming!

A recent interview with legendary songwriter/producer Quincy Jones sees the 84-year-old in serious “IDGAF” mode, name-dropping a number of his famous past collaborators and nemeses in a tell-all sitdown with our friends at Vulture.

On hand to promote a forthcoming CBS special and Netflix deal, Jones was quizzed on his thoughts on everyone from Oprah and Donald Trump to Paul McCartney and, of course, his most famous collaborator, Michael Jackson.

Just months after winning an unpaid royalties lawsuit against the King of Pop’s estate (click here to read more), the information he shared was jaw-dropping to say the least. See highlights inside:

Historically the Super Bowl, with its 100 million+ viewers, is considered one of the most powerful promotional platforms in the world.

However, in an unprecedented development, it’s actually having an adverse affect on the album sales of this year’s Halftime headliner Justin Timberlake.

As reported, initial estimates for the ‘Man of The Woods’ LP (which were already lower than anyone would have imagined pre-release) were revised down to 300,000. Yet, they’ve now dropped– again.

It’s been days since Justin Timberlake took to the Minneapolis U.S. Stadium’s field for a show-stopping Super Bowl Halftime Show, but that certainly hasn’t slowed any chatter around the event.

Beyond mixed reviews and overall backlash, the former NSYNC leader is still fielding criticism surrounding the inclusion of a Prince tribute which featured a projected image of the late music legend singing his hit, ‘I Would Die 4 U.’  While some argued the recognition was befitting given the locale of the performance, others argued it was disrespectful due to Prince & Timberlake’s turbulent history and the legend’s longstanding disapproval of use of his likeness after death.

As the critics continue to weigh in, the Halftime show’s producer – Emmy winner Ricky Kirshner – took to the defense of this year’s headliner by reminder detractors The Purple One’s family had to authorize and approve any use of his image.

Iggy Azalea is here to make it official;  ‘Digital Distortion’s out, ‘Surviving the Summer’ is in.

And, if the iTunes charts are anything to judge by, the album’s first single – ‘Savior’ (featuring Quavo) – is just what the doctor ordered for the rapstress.  After a well received Monster Products commercial (which aired during this year’s Super Bowl) helped raise awareness of the tune, Iggy’s already hit the promo trail in its support.

Most recently dropping by iHeart Radio, the rapstress dished on the personal subject matter of ‘Savior’ and its parent album, specifically highlighting its inspirations coming from personal and professional lowlights of the past few years (see:  label drama, tax drama, failed engagement to basketballer Nick Young, etc.).  Now, with renewed focus and energy, Azalea says she is rearing and ready for the masses to be introduced to her long-awaited sophomore project.

Those who complained about the male domination of 2017’s Hot 100 charts may see themselves repeating the complaint in 2018 as the tally is being ruled yet again by men.

As we reported here, last week Drake made Billboard and Spotify history when his latest tune – ‘God’s Plan’ – saw him enter the singles chart at #1.  With this week’s refreshed charts seeing him roosted on the Hot 100 perch for a second consecutive week, the Young Money rapper was greeted with even more news – he’s now earned his 70th top 40 hit (160th Hot 100 entry overall) thanks to a feature on rap trio Migos’ latest hit, ‘Walk It Talk It.’

Found aboard their recent chart-topping album, ‘Culture II,’ the tune is one of 14 to land on the Hot 100 this week.  The accomplishment ties them with legendary rockers The Beatles for most simultaneous entries on the chart.  As we extend our congratz to both Migos and Drake, tuck in to see who join them in the top 40 on this week’s ‘TGJ Chart Check:  Hot 100’ edition:

It’s no question Justin Timberlake will occupy the top spot on next week’s Billboard 200 with his next album, ‘Man of the Woods.’  What’s of concern to his faithful followers, however, is the report the set is on track to move his lowest first week numbers to date.

As we reported here, the set – released February 2 – was initially predicted to move 315-325,000 its first week.  However, as the projection was rendered before his show-stopping Super Bowl Halftime show, many assumed the figure would increase drastically after the highly rated showing.

That assumption, as Billboard is reporting, has proven itself false.  Details inside:
