As the likes of Miguel and Jhene Aiko continue to push the genre to brave and bold new heights, Mariah Carey has declared that she will never leave R&B…doing so during a recent conversation with ‘95.5WPLJ.’

Explaining her reasons for this as she detailed her thoughts on Electronic Dance Music (EDM), the “Make it Happen” maestra also explained why so many of the hits she spawned in the 90s came armed with Dance remixes, and why her new material may be on course to doing the same.

Currently housing ‘He Won’t Go’ singer Adele and formerly home to ‘Bad Girls‘ beauty MIA, ‘XL Recordings‘ once found themselves tasked with building a star out of a teenage Azealia Banks.

Alas, despite her close ties to the likes of Diplo and the talent honed and perfected at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, she was dropped…booted from the label she had hoped would her to the heights attained by one-time schoolmate, Nicki Minaj.

One’s got to give it to Jason Derulo.

For, while a number (if not all) of his contemporaries have made the mistake of sullying their brands in their quests for “credibility”, the last year has seen the ‘Tattoo” artist hold on to his ‘All American’ nature and repackage himself as a cooler, fresher and a little more Urban version of himself.

Impressive, as this organic transition has come without the side order of ‘try hard’ that currently plagues Justin Bieber’s public image, and turned him into Warner’s multi-format boy next door, nabbing sizeable spins on “Power 106″ and “Capital FM” alike!

Now watch as he joins ‘Complex’ magazine for their ‘Complex Individuals’ series, dishing on his musical tastes, embarrassing moments and what he hopes to be doing should the apocalypse swing by.

Her latest EP ‘Lipstick & Pistols’ may have dropped in 2013, but Lola Monroe extends the project’s life cycle this year with the release of a brand new video shot in its aid!

Lacking the pop of colour that usually accompanies the Rapper’s videos, the clip for “Band Up” hit the world via “Worldstar Hip Hop”, taking aim at a number of her genre-mates with lyrics that may or may not ruffle a few feathers.

Even for seasoned singers, being compared to the likes of supreme vocalists Whitney Houston and Kim Burrell can be a dangerous pressure.  But, for ‘Sunday Best’ season 2 finalist Latice Crawford, the pressure was not only expected, it was welcomed.

Less than a fortnight after its February 12th release, Mariah Carey‘s latest single ‘You’re Mine‘ has told quite the tale on the current status of the icon’s career.

Indeed, while very little can take away from her classic-smothered discography and the vocal stylings the likes of Beyonce, Christina Aguilera and Ariana Grande have pulled from many a time, ‘Mine’s unfortunate chart run has unearthed a fact the powers that be over at Def Jam now find themselves faced with.

Nobody cares.

How many are sure that they’ve come to this unfortunate conclusion?
