Earlier this Summer That Grape Juice was privy to preview several tracks from Toni Braxton and Babyface‘s new album ‘Love, Marriage, & Divorce’. The taste had us salivating for more, yet more so had us happy that Braxton re-considered her retirement.

The latest issue of UPTOWN magazine sees the Grammy winning diva not only pose it up alongside her longtime collaborator, but  wax honest about her reasons for wanting to retire – which she says revolved around depression and career insecurity.

However, as the #1 success of current single ‘Hurt You’ highlights, the singer has little reason to fret, for there clearly remains ample demand for her brand of grown and sexy.

Having yielded chart-topping results in the US, UK, and countless other regions, the singer’s latest stop is Japan – where she’s been taking to many a major stage.

The latest was TV show Sukkiri, where she performed a haunting acoustic version of ‘ART’s lead single ‘Applause’.

One year after its release, it’s now safe to say Alicia Keys’Girl On Fire’ delivered another signature hit from the star…the empowering anthem of the very same name.

Alas, after taking one year to sell what albums prior Keys albums have sold in a week, the LP now stands as one of the performer’s lowest selling to date, failing to hold a light to the flame that was ‘The Element of Freedom’ or her ‘Fallin‘ fuelled debut.

Now, it’s time for you to have your say!

On what?

With many a star serving up festive material this year, it takes a special talent to pull ahead of the pack.

Enter Ariana Grande!

The 20-year-old powerhouse has been getting the masses into the Holiday spirit with a weekly collection of classic tracks, which together comprise her ‘Christmas Kisses’ EP.

Today brings with it the last of the four songs, a blissful remake of ‘Santa Baby’ – featuring close friend and co-star on ‘Sam and Cat’, Liz Gillies.

Talk about twerking your way to the top!

Our friend Miley Cyrus has certainly capitalized on the rump-shaking phenomenon – a tactic that has landed her affront many-a-publication and on top of many-a-chart.

With hits ‘Wrecking Ball’ and ‘We Can’t Stop’ from her #1 album ‘Bangerz’ (in addition to feature on hit songs for other artists), Cyrus’ tongue-and-tail wagging ways may not have won over any fans at the Grammy committee (hence its snub from nomination), but the folks at MTV must love it…

14-time Grammy winner Alicia Keys is still very much on fire – as evidenced by her top-selling ‘Set the World On Fire’ that recently touched down on Aussie shores.  While there, the singer tapped her ‘You Don’t Know My Name’ collaborator / fellow- Grammy winner John Legend to lend a tribute to fallen South African social activist Nelson Mandela.

Taking their chops to the Bob Marley classic ‘Redemption Song’, their inspiring tribute comes as the latest of musical homages to Mandela.

Elsewhere, artists like rapper The Game have shied away from music and opted to pay their respects in different ways…like ink.

Cop a gander of Grammy nominee Tamar Braxton!

The ever-busy beauty covers the December/January issue of Black Woman Style Report with adorable son Logan Vincent Hebert, who was born back in June.

Fresh from a well-received stint on tour with John Legend, the ‘Love And War’ singer has been hot on the promo trail for new Holiday album ‘Winter Loverland’.

On the TV side of the spectrum, Ms. Braxton-Herbert can be seen getting up to her usual antics alongside her equally as engaging sisters  on the current season of WE tv’s Braxton Family Values. Next year also brings with it the return of She Me Her’s ensemble chat show The Real on FOX. Needless to say, winning!

Your thoughts?

Fresh from earning her first solo Grammy nod for the gospel hit ‘A Little More Jesus’, Mary Mary‘s Erica Campbell gives fans a little more of a reason to be excited about her forthcoming solo disc.

The group’s faithful fans are already in a frenzy in wait for the early 2014, season 3 premiere of their self-titled hit WeTV reality show, but today Campbell sent that frenzy into overdrive.

Tuck in below to find out the follow-up to ‘Little More Jesus’…

The Spice Girls may be more of a catalogue act these days than contemporary chart-toppers, yet that hasn’t stopped their still-strong fanbase from hoping for a reunion. Especially with the ladies 20th anniversary looming.

However, it appears Posh Spice has other ideas. For, in a new interview with Vogue Paris about her successful foray into the world of fashion design, Victoria Beckham revealed that she’s officially “done” with music.

The revelation comes after years of speculation about Beckham’s alleged friction with the quintet’s other members – alleged friction that would intensify each time a “reunion” rumor or opportunity gathered steam.

In an era which sees artists needing to evolve or evaporate, Ne-Yo has emerged as one of the prime acts embracing a multitude of sounds. Indeed, from R&B to EDM, the Motown hitmaker has quite the varied catalogue.

However, experimentation doesn’t come without it’s drawbacks. For, with each recent release, the singer-songwriter has received ample backlash from those claiming he’s “abandoned his soulful roots”. Despite being an ironic stance, as his latest LP ‘R.E.D’ was very much an Urban affair (lead single aside), it’s one that doesn’t seem to be going away for the masses.

Currently in the studio, Mr Smith told Good Day Atlanta that he’s readying the remedy.
