Khalid is back!

The singer has just shared his newest song called ‘New Normal’ and dropped the video to coincide with the release of the track.

The clip focuses on a futuristic world complete with drones, innovative transportation, and also sees Khalid surrounded by many plants.

However, a new song was not the only surprise that he had in store. At the end of the video, he announced that his new album ‘Everything Is Changing’ will be out in the fall. It would arrive over two years since his ‘Free Spirit’ album and four years after his ‘American Teen’ album.

It’s true; ‘Love Lies’ is the gift that keeps on giving for its creators Khalid and Normani.

Produced by Charlie Handsome, the 2018-released cut – found aboard the soundtrack to the 2018 hit film ‘Love, Simon’ – not only collected a slew of awards at its height (including ASCAP, BMI, and iHeartRadio trophies) but also serves as both singers’ first top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 as leading acts.

A global hit as evidenced by its Platinum (or higher) standing in Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand, and more, its greatest success has been found in the duo’s native USA where it recently saw its certification status upgraded yet again.

Pop, Hip-Hop, and Country collide on the surprise collaboration of award-winning musical acts Kane Brown, Swae Lee, and Khalid.

Assembling for Brown’s new song, ‘Be Like That’ (which dropped Friday, July 10), the unlikely trio trade verses about the ups-and-downs of love.

“I might be better on my own / I hate you blowing up my phone / I wish I never met your ass / But sometimes it be like that,” the hook proclaims, before switching over to a more positive light: “But I’m not myself the nights you’re gone / There ain’t no way I’m moving on / I’m not afraid to need you bad / Sometimes it be like that,” Kane croons over the Charlie Handsome-produced track.

Amid the country’s darkest hours, singer-songwriters Khalid and Victoria Monet are joining forces to shed some light.

Announcing the union earlier this week, Monet issued a statement to say:

“To be honest, we’ve gone back and forth about releasing this song because of the disgusting and confusing state of the world,” the statement reads. “After a lot of thinking and feeling, we decided to continue with the plan to put it out, so we want to give some context on why.

As June marks Pride month and Black Music month, the fight for LGBT rights and racial justice is still ongoing.  In the statement, Monet emphasized the two struggles should not be compared as they are ‘not the same,’ but they share a common goal of seeking equality and fairness.

“We’ve always used music as a form of escapism from troubling things,” the statement continues. “This song, though deep in subject matter, sonically simply feels joyful and celebratory. It’s important to us to highlight and celebrate Black joy and love in the middle of so much pain and trauma.”
