As the age old adage goes: you give them inch, and they go a mile. No truer words have been spoken when it comes to Lil’ Kim as of late. Indeed, the pint-sized rapper found herself back in the spotlight following a highly publicized (and on-going) feud with Nicki Minaj. Ever since, the 35 year old has been seemingly everywhere, dropping new material from her forthcoming joint mixtape with the I.R.S (International Rock Stars).

The latest of such material is her remix to Fabolous’ ‘You Be Killin’ Em’, which she gave away as a Twitter freebie just moments ago.

Former Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton continued her emergence from the shadows last night, with a rousing performance of the US national anthem at the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Clippers basketball game.

The 26 year old is reportedly working on her debut solo LP, although there is currently no word on whether she is signed to a major label as of yet. Based on this performance alone,  they should be queuing up at her door.

With the season premiere of American Idol around the corner, new judge Jennifer Lopez appears to be actioning a flood of the meda scape. Amidst a sea of new material surfacing from her this week, another new cut has hit the net – this time the full version of ‘Venus’.

Produced by Red One, the song serves as the theme for the diva’s new Gillette Venus TV campaign and is, as you may have guessed, a cover of  Shocking Blue‘s 1960’s hit of the same name.

Hip-Hop star Kanye West will no doubt be toasting to the “douchebags, a-holes”, and everyone inbetween. For, his latest LP ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ has been certified Platinum.

The album, released on November 22nd last year, has shipped 1 million copies according to the RIAA – selling 915,000 copies to-date.

Congrats are most certainly in order for Mr West. Beyond reasserting his sales consistency, the numbers are even more impressive when compared to the performance of recent releases from his chart rivals. Indeed, Diddy‘s ‘Last Train To Paris’ has only managed to shift a paltry 172,000 copies, while T.I’s ‘No Mercy’ has performed marginally better – selling through 353,000 records.

Clearly this is evidence enough that people will part with their hard earned cash if you give them reason enough to. For, particularly in the case of Diddy, his promotional push was on-par, if not, bigger than Kanye’s – only for his sales to be almost 9 times less. Interesting.
