Cicely Tyson, the pioneering Academy, EMMY, and TONY-award winning actress who helped break Hollywood’s color barriers on film and television over her nearly 70-year career, passed away Thursday (January 28) at 96-years-old – just two days after the release of her memoir, ‘Just As I Am.’

The report of her passing from her manager, Larry Thompson, did not include information about the cause of death.

Easily one of Hollywood’s most celebrated actresses during her lifetime, news of the screen Queen’s life transition only saw that celebration amplified as fans, admirers, industry insiders, and fellow entertainers took to social media in droves to remember the icon.

As reported, legendary broadcaster Larry King died yesterday (January 23) following complications caused by Covid-19.

Nearly 50 years after her death, Gospel legend Mahalia Jackson is set to be the subject of multiple biographical films depicting her groundbreaking rise to fame and civil rights activism.

In 2020, it was announced ‘Orange is the New Black’ star Danielle Brooks had been tapped to portray Jackson in the made-for-TV movie, ‘The Mahalia Jackson Story,’ while GRAMMY winner Jill Scott will assume the iconic character for the first ever big screen adaptation of her life story (produced by Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx and Academy Award nominee Queen Latifah).

Now, it’s been revealed 13-time GRAMMY nominee Ledisi is next up to show off her acting chops as the Gospel pioneer.

While Reginae Carter may be making headlines for posting hopeful messages that her on-again-off-again boyfriend, rapper Rayshawn “YFN Lucci” Bennett, will be “home soon” after his detainment on murder, aggravated assault, firearm, and other charges, Atlanta authorities are suggesting the opposite.

As we previously reported, the hit rapper turned himself in Wednesday (January 13) after learning he was facing a murder charge in connection with a deadly shootout.  Later that week, he was denied bond at his first court hearing related to the matter and – as of time reported – remains in police custody.

Now, his lawyer – Drew Findling – is hitting the press rounds in his support.
