Welcome to 4th quarter!

We thought August 28 was the most jam-packed music release date of the year (due to many acts rushing to meet the GRAMMY eligibility deadline), but boy were we wrong!  October 2 brought it with a plethora of Pop, Hip Hop, and R&B gems to kick off the last quarter of 2020.

While the likes of BLACKPINK delivered their highly anticipated new LP ‘The Album’ (click here to stream), Bryson Tiller unveiled ‘Anniversary’ (click here to stream) – his first studio effort since 2017.  The project’s title acts as an ode to self of sorts as it arrived exactly 5 years after the premiere of his debut, ‘TrapSoul.’

Speaking of odes to self, Mariah Carey – just days after the release of her long-awaited memoir ‘The Meaning of Mariah Carey’ – gave fans a peak inside her prized vault by unleashing a set of previously unreleased tunes in a compilation album titled ‘The Rarities’ (click here to stream).

Those projects will duke it out for the top spot on the Billboard 200, but the Hot 100 has the fiercest competition as it will not only contain gems from the previously mentioned LPs but also rival new songs from Dua Lipa, Shawn Mendes, Megan Thee Stallion, Jason Derulo, and many more for top billing.

With this delicious buffet of new music laid out for consumption, That Grape Juice wants to know:

Wednesday afternoon (September 23), a grand jury indicted former Louisville police Detective Brett Hankison on 3 charges of ‘wanton endangerment’ for firing into a neighboring apartment the night Kentucky EMT and aspiring nurse Breonna Taylor was killed by cops (as we reported here).

The decision was handed down after six months of pressure from civil rights activists, celebrities, protestors, and more to arrest to the three officers responsible for killing.  The other two officers remain uncharged for the incident – meaning no one is being held directly responsible for Taylor’s death.

As protests erupt around the country in response, celebrities like Alicia Keys, John Legend, Oprah, Cardi B, George Clooney, Viola Davis, Kerry Washington, and more have taken to social media to express their outrage.

‘Any rumor about me, let me dead it’ – a line from Megan Thee Stallion‘s hit ‘Girls in the Hood’ – are words she’s continuing to live by as evidenced by her recent Instagram live posts.

The most recent chat with followers saw her address rumors she physically abused her ex-boyfriend Karim York.  During her talk on the social media platform (which drew in over 60,000 viewers at its height), the award-winning rapstress stated:

“I don’t like when people flat out tell lies,” she barked. “They antagonize me every day online, they pick with me every godd*mn day. They’re always making up stories about me and now I really feel like I’m gonna have to start doing something about it. ‘Cause you b*tches are really crazy.”

The incident in question stems from a mugshot of the femcee that resurfaced online alongside blog reports she had been arrested for beating her then boyfriend after discovering he was having an affair.
