After a lengthy break on the bench, ‘TGJ Replay’ is back!

Designed much like our ‘Retro Rewind’ and ‘From the Vault’ features, ‘Replay’ is That Grape Juice‘s newest retrospective segment – a written quest, if you will, to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday.

Unlike its ‘Rewind’ and ‘Vault’ predecessors, ‘Replay’ looks to dust off and showcase entire albums (and eras) from a library of pop and Urban pop music hits.  As this week marks the 25th anniversary of the release of ‘Rhythm Nation’ – the now legendary fourth album from pop superstar Janet Jackson, we are set to deliver our biggest ‘Replay’ yet in homage to the Queen.

Rihanna left little to the imagination at the at the annual ‘Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards’ last night, when she arrived to collect the ‘Fashion Icon Award’ dressed in nothing but Swarovski crystals, pieced together by designer Adam Selman.

Rubbing shoulders with the likes of Anna Wintour who looked on as she collected the award for her contributions to fashion, Fenty hit the award show hours after spending the evening with ‘Epic’ performer Future.

Indeed, as she continues work on her eighth studio album, the singer and her ‘Love Song‘ collaborator were snapped entering the same NYC nightspot after 3am on Saturday, weeks after his fiancee Ciara welcomed their son Future to the world, here.

Though she’s never had trouble moving units, it would seem Beyonce has unearthed a new found power in streaming, unleashed once her latest album hit iTunes, December 13th 2013.

Indeed, released after Billboard announced streaming data would factor into ‘Billboard Hot 100′ chart positions, the singer’s self-titled new album has seen views garnered on VEVO and units sold on the likes of iTunes force singles ‘Drunk in Love’ and ‘Partition’ to Top Twenty glory.

Now, as Rihanna & Ciara whip up material for their new albums, Bey has seen the aforementioned ‘Partition’ take the net by storm!

Fresh from delivering buzz single ‘Don’t Make Me Wait’ last week, R&B star LeToya Luckett is wasting no time returning to the studio to work on its parent album ‘Until Then’.

Proving she has an ear for what’s hot, the singer-actress has tapped hitmaker Mike Will Made It to work on the project, as well as rapper (and Ciara’s fiance) Future. The 32-year-old shared shots of herself in the studio with the duo on Instagram.

Having loved LeToya’s debut album and enjoyed her second, we’re salivating at the prospect of her third. ‘Don’t Make Me Wait’ was an aptly titled warm-up. Hence, we can’t wait to hear the rest of the heat she’s bringing this go round.

Going to battle for the coveted trophies against the likes of RihannaBritney Spears, Bruno Mars, and other top stars, Perry & Timberlake’s fans showed that the mega-successes of their 2013 are undoubtedly set to spill over to the new year.

As uncomfortable as it is to admit, double standards continue to run rampant in the entertainment industry.

For, when Ciara‘s ‘Ride’ faced bans many a Trey Songz’ visual didn’t, it reaffirmed- even if done unintentionally- that the marketplace that is the music industry is anything but fair.

Now, while the example above highlighted the problem sexism still plays in the female arena, ‘Original Man’ performer Lord Jamar has taken aim at a culture which he says sees Caucasian acts knowingly pull from ‘Urban’ culture…and use ‘white privilege’ to surpass the African American acts they pulled from.

After yielding year-end tallies based on chart stats and critic picks, our friends over at Billboard have turned the polls over to fans in quest to find out who the people thought was the ‘album of the year’.

To the surprise of many, the appointed – pop superstar Lady Gaga – did not see her name on the music Bible’s chart or critics’ picks – yet she topped every major category of the reader’s poll.

Taking honors in ‘Favorite Album’, ‘Favorite Music Video’, and ‘MVP’ of the year, see what other names were dominated by the diva in the tally and tell us if you agree:
