Not even a collection of stage-blazing performances from the likes of Miley Cyrus, DaBaby, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and more were enough to help the MTV VMAs drum up an increase in viewership.  After netting their worst ratings ever with the 2019 showing (click here for details), the hopes were probably a bit higher for the KeKe Palmer-hosted 2020 edition.

Granted, preliminary figures indicate this year’s take on the annual awards show were their lowest in history, but it’s not all bad news.

The flood of emotions to continue to flow in the wake of the passing of Chadwick Boseman.

And the latest tribute comes courtesy of the actor’s ‘Black Panther’ co-star Michael B. Jordan.

The pair’s delivered screen magic was  when Jordan played Erik Killmonger/N’Jadaka the cousin of Boseman’s T’Challa/Black Panther in the blockbuster 2018 movie.

Now, following Boseman’s death at 43 – after a secret four-year battle with colon cancer – Jordan has paid emotional homage to his close friend.

Though teased earlier this year (click here to read more), Starz has now officially signaled the green light for another chapter in the ‘Power’ franchise.

The network’s flagship series, the Omari Hardwick-led show bid viewers adieu in February after a six-season run.  Ahead of its finale, STARZ announced the award-winning program – helmed by Courtney Kemp and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson – would be granted four spinoffs.

With ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ primed for kick off September 6, ‘Power Book IV’ is being readied to center around character “Tommy Egan” (portrayed by Joseph Sikora).

As millions across the globe try to process the shocking death of Chadwick Boseman, so too is Ryan Coogler – director of ‘Black Panther.’

In an emotional open letter, the critically acclaimed filmmaker pays tribute to Boseman – who lost his four-year battle with colon cancer on Friday (August 28).

The star’s diagnosis was not known to the public and, as Coogler reveals, his collaborators were none-the-wiser too.

Echoing sentiments shared by Spike Lee (who directed Boseman in recent film ‘Da 5 Bloods’), Coogler shared that not only did he not know the specifics of the icon’s illness, he had actually been deep in the writing process for ‘Black Panther 2.’ A film in which 43-year-old Boseman was set to reprise the title role (T’Challa).

On Friday (August 28), an official representative for ‘Black Panther’ star Chadwick Boseman announced he had died after a 4-year battle with colon cancer (as we reported here).

Sending shockwaves across the industry, his fans rushed to social media to extend their condolences.  Among the late 43-year-old’s admirers and supporters were celebrities – some of whom shared screen time with the highly revered, award-winning actor.

Amber Riley is honoring her former ‘Glee’ cast-mate Naya Rivera.

The singer stopped by ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ on Thursday night, where she performed a touching tribute to the late actress with her new song ‘A Moment.’

Singing under the name Riley, the performance featured pictures of the 33-year-old that were projected behind her as she sang:

“Now I need a moment alone with my soul /  I can’t stop these thoughts /  I need these /  I’m ready to fight /  I’m ready to see what’s on the other side / I’m ready to cry and just let it be.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live guest host Lil Rel Howery introduced the performance with a tribute of her own, saying:

“Not too long ago, we both lost a really good friend in a tragic accident and we both will miss her forever.”

Rivera tragically passed away in July.

August 28 will mark the most jam-packed music release date of the year.
