Last night saw a number of  the urban world’s more celebrated stars align to celebrate the 2011 Soul Train Awards.

From Keri Hilson to Phaedra Parks of the Real Housewives Of Atlanta (available to watch here), the red carpet and the event itself was awash with stars, which also included singer Marsha Ambrosius and director/Reality Tv star  Laurieann Gibson.

Life is good for a certain Jay-Z.

The Hip-Hop honcho and soon-to-be father was all laughs last night when he came out to celebrate his status as one of GQ magazine’s Men of the Year.

A lavish affair, the event was held at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles and was attended by fellow honouree Justin Timberlake, who -if pics could speak-provided gags a plenty.

As part of the experience, fans will be able to download MP3s of the performances for free after the concert’s finale.

Alicia Keys and hip hop hitmaker Pharrell are just two of Urban music’s brightest stars dropping redos on the cover of ‘Dazed & Confused’.  The popular magazine is celebrating its 20th anniversary in a big way – by having 20 of its previous cover stars revisit the magazine’s front.  Dazed co-founder and photographer Rankin also includes a foldout giving shine to a “rising star” nominated by each cover star.

Seems Whitney isn’t the only one getting in a little ‘Extra’ time these days.  And, as a phrase that many have often used to describe fellow diva Mariah Carey, it would only be fitting for the ‘Vision of Love’ songstress to pay visit to the ‘Extra’ show in support of her latest holiday efforts.

Already found spreading Christmas joy in her virtual concert broadcast worldwide earlier today, the multi-octave songbird was spotted on the entertainment show chatting with resident host and longtime friend AJ Calloway.  As ever, besides the usual chatter of new babies and new body, the mother-of-two dropped dibs on her latest video venture with soulful crooner John Legend.
