The roll-out of her latest offering ‘Glory’ was no different.

While many-a-Britney Spears fan will point to the singer’s lengthy catalog of hits as reason why she has “nothing to prove,” 2016’s reality – nearly 20 years into her storied career – spells of quite the contrary.

At one time the diva, even at her worst and most “absent,” was still able to shift units on the strength of her name alone.  2013’s ‘Britney Jean’ brought evidence of the opposite, delivering with it the first time the stageblazer rightfully missed the top of the Billboard 200 on the premiere week of an album release (see:  Eagles/Billboard drama during ‘Blackout’ era).  Granted, most will defend the misstep by citing her Vegas residency as reason it was not properly promoted, but others took the failure as indication her popularity had finally begun waning.

Fast forward to 2016, post her history-making run in Las Vegas and a redemptive Billboard Awards performance, “forgiveness” in the court of public opinion may have very well been granted if critical response to the singer’s 9th album, ‘Glory’ (in stores today), is anything to judge by.

Based on the set’s first releases – ‘Make Me’ (featuring G-Eazy), ‘Private Show,’ ‘Clumsy,’ and ‘Do You Wanna Come Over’ – some worried the pop diva’s nonary effort was set to crash and burn.  However, upon the set’s full unveiling early this morning, critics are singing quite a different tune – some even citing it as her best effort since 2007’s underrated, game changing ‘Blackout’:

Chris Brown showcases his flare for the cinematic in the video for new single ‘Grass Ain’t Greener.’

Unleashed moments ago, the visual’s arrival is somewhat odd given that the song debuted way back in May.

In any case, the cut is said to feature on the singer’s eighth studio album which has a working title of ‘Heartbreak On A Full Moon).’

Today marks the 15th anniversary of Aaliyah‘s passing in a tragic plane crash.

With the world remembering the late, great songstress, so too is superstar Beyonce.

Though Aaliyah’s career set sail earlier than Mrs Carter’s, they both begun to experience intense success around the same time. A reality which birthed comparisons that have yet to quell till this day.

Throughout it all, though, the ladies were always fond of one another. A fact Bey celebrated today as she saluted the departed diva.

Over the course of Britney Spears‘ career, the Pop icon has made a name for herself by way of her captivating videos and potent performances. Vocals, however, have never been her calling card.

Many scratched their heads, then, when the star booked a seat aboard James Corden‘s ‘Carpool Karaoke. After all, it’s a segment that’s made headlines thanks to guest stints from belters such as Adele and Mariah Carey.

Still, with the game changing at a rapid rate and an album in ‘Glory’ to promote, who can fault Spears for seizing on one of the most popping platforms?

Montell Jordan‘s 1995 classic ‘This Is How We Do It’ received a fresh pair of promotional legs hours ago when he performed it live to celebrate James Corden’s birthday.

The comedian turned 38 and so to celebrate the big day, Montell made his may to his ‘Late Late Show’ to deliver a fresh rendition of the hit single.

I just want to wish you a very, very happy birthday. I was told you’re a big fan of my song ‘This Is How We Do It,’ and they say whenever you hear it, it puts you in a really good mood. So, I wanted to make sure for your birthday, I got you a really cool gift. Actually, I got a better idea.
