Whitney Houston‘s story is set for the spotlight like never before.
Well-treaded terrain, both during the legend’s life and following her 2012 passing, her story is receiving the big-screen biopic treatment with the arrival of ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody.’
Due in theaters this December, the film sets out to serve as the most seismic and most definitive take on a narrative like no other.
Directed by Kasi Lemons, ‘I Wanna Dance’ is written and produced by Anthony McCarten – who helmed Oscar winner ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ (the blockbuster biopic about Queen). It notably serves as the only film production on Houston’s life to be released in partnership with the diva’s Estate and longtime collaborator Clive Davis in the mix. A move that will see the flick feature original recordings of the icon’s music too.
Ahead of its arrival in theaters, Sony Pictures has unveiled the first-look trailer – showcasing lead Naomi Ackie as Houston and the lifelong span the film will delve into.
