Jung Kook drove ‘Standing Next To You,’ the third single from his debut solo album ‘Golden,’ to the top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 the week of its premiere.
Now, thanks to a remix assisted by R&B icon Usher, the former BTS star could see the Andrew Watt-penned bop soar to even higher heights on the hitlist.
For many, Whitney Houston is the golden standard of vocal performance – a status that remains intact nearly 40 years after she first burst onto the music scene.
And while her enduring legacy is seen and heard with the treasure chest of albums and videos she created over her career, it’s also felt in the work of the artists she influenced.
Prominently among the latter is R&B icon Monica, who was one of the few stellar vocalists who can count Whitney as a direct mentor.
After dropping jaws with the Justin Timberlake-assisted remix to the smash hit, ‘3D,’ former BTS star Jung Kook has repeated the feat by calling on R&B icon Usher to assist on a revamp of ‘Standing Next To You.’
Released Friday (December 1), the updated version of the ‘Golden‘ single arrives less than a month after the original incarnation of ‘Standing’ – like ‘3D’ before it – soared to #5 on the Hot 100.
“The universe approves when you and I dance / So elegant and heaven sent these vibes yeah / It’s way way too early to leave,” Ush croons on the blazing track.

Jung Cook‘s Justin Timberlake-assisted remix of hit single ‘3D’ has been unboxed.
The singers, who helm from mega-groups BTS and NYSNC respectively, trade verses on the refreshed version of the track, which in its original form featured Jack Harlow.

It’s still award season and the Billboard Music Awards 2023 is up next.
Taking place on November 19, the event will honor some of the most commercially impactful releases over the last year.
And, for the first time ever, the BBMAs will unwrap performances and awards across BBMAs and Billboard social channels.

In a first-of-its-kind ‘Fans First’ collaboration with Spotify, this year’s show brings audiences up close and personal with their favorite acts.
The BBMAs and Spotify have teamed up to identify fans who have consumed the most hours of music over the past year and ultimately helped lift their favorite artists to the top spots on the Billboard charts. These super fans will receive a “golden ticket” – which rewards them with access to attend a once-in-a-lifetime performance curated by their favorite artists for the BBMAs.
Speaking on the unique activation, Maddy Mesevage, SVP, Marketing at dick clark productions said:
“We’ve heard the fans loud and clear, and we’re excited to meet them where they are, and everywhere they want to consume music and content. This year’s show is an epic celebration of the fans who propelled their favorite artists to the top of the Billboard charts. To thank them, we are thrilled to work with Spotify and the artists themselves to offer their most loyal fans an experience they’ll never forget.”
