Been around the world and ayayai

Earlier this week, footage of Epic jewel Ciara performing at Dubai’s Club Chi Chi in support of her upcoming album surfaced here, days after it was announced the project’s lead single would be arriving in a matter of weeks.

So in further support of the album and her cause as a performer, the songstress has taken her worldwide club tour to the European city of Amsterdam to deliver what might be one of her most impressive performances to date.

The-Dream‘s recent interview Tim Westwood seems to be the gift that keeps giving.

For, after revealing in part one how much he made for penning Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’, part two seems the singer-songwriter open up about why he can no longer work with R&B star Ciara, as well as his thoughts on his own success as an artist.

“She’s a flop!”

A phrase used all too often, yet rarely probed.

The gargantuan success of mega-sellers such as Beyonce and Lady GaGa have seen acts who don’t meet their commercial benchmarks cast as “failures”.

But are they, though?

Hit ‘PLAY’ to watch us examine this, with particular reference to two of R&B’s most debated acts – Kelly Rowland and Ciara. Be sure to let us know what YOU think below…

In perhaps a bid to heighten excitement, very little has been shared about Ciara‘s forthcoming album.

Indeed, much of what is in the public domain about the project has been drip-fed or confirmed by sources outside the singer’s camp.

However, with the X Factor USA finally wrapped, it’s back to business for judge and Epic Records head LA Reid; with the first call of duty being to launch the singer’s comeback campaign. A campaign which is poised to set sail much sooner than you think.

Beautiful. Talented. Personable.

While the above are all words  oft used to describe Epic diva Ciara, the last few years have proven that not even these desirable qualities have been enough to secure the success and notoriety she has struggled to achieve on a number of occasions.

For, despite the critical acclaim her first four LP’s have garnered over the years, her latest studio effort- ‘Basic Instinct‘ left many fans wondering if she would ever be able to match or better the commercial heights  the likes of Rihanna  seem to remain atop of.

Now That Grape Juice weighs in.

Answering the question:

Just how do you solve a problem like Ciara’s career?

As Ciara plots her chart return, all eyes are on who the singer has enlisted to craft her comeback effort. One such figure many hope not to see is hitmaker The-Dream. Ironic, it would seem, as a ‘hit’ is exactly what the 25 year old’s career is in dire need of.

Yet, meaty combo of their patchy output and Dream’s detrimental comments, have left many a Ms. Harris fan with a salty taste in their mouth when it comes to the producer – real name Terius Nash.

A taste they won’t to worry about much longer, though. For, the ‘Single Ladies’ mastermind has revealed that he will not be contributing to Super C’s Epic Records debut – in any capacity.

Ciara is trying to get her career back in vogue, and what better way to kick start her comeback campaign than a new spread in Vogue magazine itself.

The ‘Ride’ singer, who is gearing up for the release of a new album next year, appears in the French edition of the “fashion bible” looking all flavours of fierce. Bring on LP #5!

Check out this shot of Atlanta Peach Ciara posing it up with X Factor USA‘s Marcus Canty.

Snapped backstage during the show’s rehearsal session this week, the pair were brought together by mutual mentor LA Reid who recently signed the ‘Ride‘ singer to his Epic record label in time for a new album ,which members of the ‘C-Section’ can expect in stores next year.

Many thanks to Ultimate Ciara.

In what will be sure to serve as shocking news for any familiar with Pop belle Ciara, it emerged today that an unfortunate incident – which took place recently-  has forced her to use a wheelchair.

Find out why below…

Ciara has seen the buzz surrounding her 5th studio album intensify as of late. Indeed, with it all but confirmed that she’s re-joined forces with LA Reid (the man who launched her career) over at Epic Records, interest in the songstress has reignited following a series of commercial disappointments.

Which is just as well, as the singer today tweeted a shot of her in the studio. Now, because we love to give you the real tea, we can confirm that the session was with hitmaker Soundz – who produced ‘Gimmie Dat’ from her ‘Basic Instinct’ LP. More over, though, we’re just glad to see Ms. Harris back on her grind. And with word that today’s session was an Epic sponsored production “camp” for her project (where a number of writers and producers congregate to draw up tracks for an artist), it seems the wheels are finally a-turning for her comeback. Roll on 2012!

From The Vault this week pays tribute to Ciara‘s 2005 summer sizzler ‘Oh’. The gritty cut was released as the 3rd single from her Platinum selling debut, ‘Goodies’. Featuring a verse from Hip-Hop titan Ludacris, the release peaked at #2 on the Billboard 100 and was yet another international hit for the singer.

Riding high on the wave that was Crunk-R&B back then, the Dre & Vidal produced cut served as Ci’s homage to her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. While having a darker tone than previous singles ‘Goodies’ and ‘1,2 Step’, ‘Oh’ maintained a crossover appeal and radio-friendliness that allowed it to perform as well as its predecessors on the charts.

From the elaborate choreograpgy to the overall swag and attitude displayed, the single’s accompanying video further cemented CiCi’s status as the most visually exciting emerging artist in town.

Here at TGJ HQ, we can’t help but feel like the world hasn’t seen the best of Super C yet. Something which could very well change now that her rough spell (see: Fantasy Ride, Basic Instinct) is seemingly behind her and the comeback narrative is falling into place. Let’s only hope that her collaboration with her Epic knight in shining armour, L.A Reid, yields fruitful rewards. After all, he is responsible for Mariah‘s 00’s comeback and Rihanna‘s (successful) joke of a career; yet also bares the load of mishandling of Janet‘s 2008 under-performer ‘Discipline’. For Ms. Harris’ sake, their reunion (he launched her career) needs to translate into critical and commercial acclaim and of course more hits. Hopefully this new venture will also allow Ms. Harris to expand her creative vision through big-budget videos and worldwide tours. She’s too talented to still be so ‘local’. She’s a global star in-waiting.

Roll on 2012!
