With Afro-Beats making its long-overdue foray into the mainstream via the likes of D’Banj and Tiwa Savage, next up is Nigerian wonder WizKid.

Already a house-hold name is his West African native, the 23 year old saw his debut album become the fastest selling album in the region too.

And, as if his list of achievements weren’t meaty enough, Wiz won the 2011 MTV EMA Worldwide Act Award and 2011‟s MOBO Award for Best African Act. He is also nominated for Best International act at the 2012 BET Awards.

So pervasive is the rapper’s buzz that hitmaker Akon had no choice but to sit up and sign him to an International deal on his Konvict Music imprint in April of this year.

So given the ample hype, naturally one question arises: is it warranted? Check out the video for ‘Pakurumo’ below and let us know!

After burning up the clubs for many a year, Afrobeats are finally roaring their way into the mainstream.

And with the likes of Tiwa Savage leading the way, next up is Kanye West‘s Nigerian protegee D’Banj.

A staple on the music scene of his homeland, the rapper was snapped up by Ye’s GOOD Music imprint last year, and has today unveiled the video for his first mainstream release ‘Oliver Twist’.

Armed with many an African ism (see: “gari”, “omotola”), the uptempo sees the rising star fuse the West with West Africa, blending up a banger of a track.

Hit ‘Play’ on the clip above (which features cameos from West, label mate Big Sean and Sugababe Keisha Buchanan) and let us know what you think!

Last week, she was snapped at the Grand Canyon filming a music video – which many presumed was for the song ‘Spirit’ – which features on both the official soundtrack and hers.

Now, speculation is growing that there’s more visually on the way.
