Though comprised of seasoned writers who share a similar outlook on Urban Pop culture, the idiosyncrasies of the TGJ team members often lend for quite heated debates “behind the scenes” about the hottest topics.

Now, we give you a front row seat to the show. In a format similar to ‘The View’ or ‘The Real’, TGJ editors – Sam, Rashad, Joe, and Ryan – get real in a very candid way.

Today’s roundtable topic asks each anchor their thoughts on the…

A royal backlash indeed for legendary ‘Throne Room’ hitmaker CeCe Winans after the Gospel diva was among the celebrities featured in a President Donald Trump-ordered ad designed to reassure the country about the current administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

With the associated death toll at 204,000 at writing, Trump’s lax reaction to the health crisis has been widely criticized – a tide he was hoping to turn by teaming with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to launch a $300 million advertising campaign highlighting their reactive efforts.

To assist, HHS enlisted the likes of Dennis Quaid and Winans to reach audiences – a move that’s incited backlash for both participants, especially the latter.  So much so, the 12-time GRAMMY winner took to Twitter Friday (September 25) to defend her actions.

Six-time GRAMMY® nominee and box office star Tyrese Gibson joined forces with three-time GRAMMY® winner CeeLo Green to use music as a mean to deliver an address to racial disparity and police brutality in America.

Titled ‘Legendary,’ the gripping tune saw its accompanying Deon Taylor-directed music video premiere August 28.

Clocking in just at 8:46, the clip’s runtime is the exact amount of time a white Minneapolis police officer used his knee to pin the neck of African American local George Floyd to the ground (causing his death as a result).

Speaking on the socially conscious effort, Tyrese stated:

“Legendary is powerful because the music and the video are meant to shift how we are seen. We’re in the middle of a revolution. As Black people we are fighting two pandemics: COVID-19 and Systemic Racism. The video painfully underscores the plight of our community, while asserting that Black Lives Matter. As for the music? The proudest moment of my life is when attorney Benjamin Crump said ‘Legendary’ is the new anthem of the movement.”

Circa 2009, YouTube- still in its formative years- saw a wave of charismatic characters glide into its platform and bolster its popularity with engaging original content.

At the forefront? The quick-witted and fast-paced personality Qaadir Howard.

Then in high-school, the entertainer’s YouTube channel saw him share side-splitting tales prised from his everyday life armed with unforgettable one-liners and comedic references to Pop culture.

Many believe his personality was the blueprint for Bretman Rock‘s lucrative social media act.

Now, those who wondered why Howard did not yield fruit from the garden he had a hand in planting have learned that Shane Dawson may be to blame.

The music industry has united to declare that #TheShowMustBePaused.

George Floyd‘s shocking death has sent a ripple wave of fury across the globe and brought the necessity of conquering racial injustice to the surface.

As widely reported, the unarmed Black man joined a growing list of Afro-Americans who’ve lost their lives in police encounters. In Floyd’s instance, Minnesota officer Derek Chauvin rested a knee on his neck for seven minutes – despite audible pleas from the deceased.

Now, record labels – both major and independent – are joining forces for what is being deemed Black Out Tuesday on June 2nd.
