Monica fans may be anxiously awaiting updates about her new album, ‘Trenches’ (originally due earlier this year), but the GRAMMY-winning diva isn’t leaving them hanging in wait for new music overall.

Teaming with rapper Yung Bleu, Mo can be heard playing assistant on the rising star’s latest release, ‘Family Feud.’

Found aboard his recently released, 5-song EP, ‘No, I’m Not Ok,’ the tune tells the tale of how familial disapproval can negatively impact romantic relationships.

“And I know your daddy don’t like me / Your mama wanna fight me / Your sister don’t trust me, oh no / And I think your brother be hatin’ / Your auntie’s impatient / She wants me to marry you,” Bleu croons on the Cut&Dry-produced cut.

With the Oscars around the corner, ‘Passing’ has emerged as one of the titles tipped to nab multiple nominations.

And with just reasoning.

The powerful production (which is adapted from Nella Larsen’s 1929 novel of the same name) chronicles the story of two Black women, Irene Redfield (Tessa Thompson w)and Clare Kendry (Ruth Negga), who are able to “pass” as white. Despite establishing a bond as childhood friends, contrasting narratives play out as the ladies opt to live on opposite sides of the color line in 1920s New York.

Their paths intertwine in adulthood and what plays out from there is a compelling exploration of repression, denial, division, and harsh realizations.

That Grape Juice‘s Samuel Eni sat down with Thompson and Academy Award nominee Negga to discuss the film and its broader impact.

Watch the interview above and be sure to stream ‘Passing’ on Netflix.
