Today’s From The Vault pick is a gem housed in the early 90s.

This week’s pick is the soaring ‘Love Takes Time’ by the ever-dependable Mariah Carey.

After hitting a home run with her debut single ‘Vision Of Love’ in 1990, Mariah and her team were primed for her to become the next big thing in music and keen to prove that she wasn’t a flash in the pan.

Issued as the second single to be released from the diva’s eponymous debut, ‘Love’ was written by Mimi alongside Ben Margulies and marked the first of many collaborations with producer Walter Afanasieff.

A ballad about lost love and the healing process that comes after it, it served as the songbird’s second US #1 and a favorite with critics. Internationally, it didn’t reach the heights of its predecessor globally but still managed to crack the Top 40 of the British charts.

The song’s black-and-white visual was shot in Venice, Los Angeles by Jeb Brien and shows Mimi wandering on the beach with her reliable little black dress and a blanket after a man is seen leaving with a suitcase.

If the world as a whole is currently excited about Mariah’s festive content, we for one can’t wait to get our ears and eyes on the album follow-up to the exquisite ‘Caution.’ If her at-home performances of the past few months are anything to go by, we’re in for an amazing ride.

Billy Porter takes center stage in the vivacious video for ‘Children.’

The track serves as the first offering from the Emmy winner since he signed with Republic Records.

True to form, the song and visual find the ‘Pose’ star championing empowerment, self-expression, and flair in earnest.

Speaking on the release, Porter said:

“The song is about choosing yourself. that choosing one’s personal authenticity is the only way to live – and then using the power of that choice to help others make the same choice.

“The song has a universal message, but I really wanted the vibe of the visual to be about celebrating our community. We are all the children. I was also excited that we were able to cast our beautiful array of extras with help from the Ali Forney Center, a place that is very special to me and that does such great work.”
