Dawn Robinson Set For Reality Show

Published: Thursday 6th Sep 2007 by Sam
Many of you will probably remember Dawn Robinson as the lead singer from 90’s girl group EnVogue, as well as Lucy Pearl. It turns out she has fallen on hard times (both career wise and financially) since being ousted from both groups. Now married and hoping to make a comeback, Robinson has filmed a reality series with her singer husband, Dre, ‘Come Back & Come Up’. The show will document her attempts at relaunching her music career, as well as Dre’s experiences breaking into the industry. They have apparently approached BET and TV One about airing the show. Check out the trailer below:

This looks pretty interesting and makes a change to all the overplayed reality shows out at the moment. I’ve always had the impression that Dawn was the victim of her own ego, hence explaining why her career is in the pits. Still, I’m a fan of her undeniable talent and will definitely be tuning in whenever the show airs.

I think the show is going to be hott though because people don’t get to watch too many reality shows of people struggling. There are always the rich people showing there lives of what they do on an everyday bases without financial struggle.

I don’t mean to make jugdements on somebodies life, but clearly she was doing something negative with her money. EnVouge was huge! You can’t tell me she didn’t have big money? There are artist who have sold less than EnVogue that are millionaires. She should have invested her money because God knows it wont last.

That’s the reason Dawn left En Vogue.. they weren’t making money… by the way Dawn wasn’t ousted from En Vogue or Lucy Pearl.. she choose to leave because of they way everything was being handled….

Dawn wasn’t doing anything negative with money because she wasn’t making any money in EnVogue. Dawn was the standout of EnVogue. I’d love to see MTV or VH1 give this show love, as well as BET. I will definitely be watching!

I would definately watch this, it shows the everyday man and woman doing what they got to do to survive. There should be more shows like this already to show that its not just about what new dance you can bring out or do or how you can have beef with everybody or call everyone out of their names, but you have to know how to handle everything that comes your way. Just take it and keep doing you to the best of your ability, you never know what will happen on tomorrow.

i love Dawn, even have her first solo album. i feel that her ego is what messed her up. she wanted to be big as Janet when she left the group and it was all about the money with her. its a shame cause she has a beautiful voice. im pulling for her and Dre and will buy their albums

I just have to say this. Dre Allen is the GREATEST most underrated artist PERIOD!!! He has shown nothing but love & respect for Dawn on his myspace page except for when they were broken up. He played the field a little but got his ass kicked with that old love bug! This show is gonna be about people stickin out the problems & never losing site of their dreams. ITS ABOUT TIME AMERICA!

Dawn was not the lead singer of En Vogue. All four of the original singers were picked from a newspaper want add as lead singers that could harmonize as a group. Dawn had a big ego and that could have been her worst problem financially. As for En Vogue as a group, it is true they were one of the 90’s artist locked into ridiculous contracts that gave them very little money (i.e. TLC, SWV, etc). This show seems nice but I hope Dawn does not have the same ego she did when she first released her debut album because that would turn off a lot of viewers, including myself.

It does look good. its different from other reality shows that ive seen.

P.S. I had no idea about the ego thing. How did that come about? Did the other EnVogue singers say that’s why Dawn left?

The show sounds like it would be interesting. However, I don’t think Dawn had an ego, because if that was the case, why weren’t the other members of EnVogue successful? I think they got stuck with a bad contract and had little creative control over their music.
