It has been announced via Kelly Rowland‘s official MySpace page, that she is set to release two Stateside singles simultaneously – ‘Grown Woman’ and ‘Rose Coloured Glasses’.
As previously reported, ‘Grown Woman’, which was produced by Stargate and written by Ne-Yo, will serve as Rowland’s Urban-geared release. For the mainstream audience, the Dr Luke produced / Ester Dean penned ‘Rose Coloured Glasses’ will be serviced. Both songs are set to make their radio debut on June 29th.

Super cute song! But what happen to Commander she hasn’t really promoted it well enough. It would be a total waste to release these two singles now when Commander has.not reached it’s full potential. Commander does not seem as though it was ever really intended for the US market. It seems very European focused. Her team seem to have been planning to release different singles in the US and Worldwide for some time now.

Kelly makes it really hard to support her. I like HER, but her music is so whack. All these supposed singles: Grown Ass Woman, Shake them Haters off, and this…are NOT single material. They are such album fillers to me. I really wish her the best, but if these 3 songs are supposed to be the stand out single-worthy tracks on her album, I definitely don’t wanna hear what the rest of the CD sounds like.
I had such high hopes for her, and I love Commander, but the other tracks that have been leaked/released are just awful. It sounds like songs someone trying to get into the industry would be singing. The production sounds super cheap too.
She is going to need to come a lot harder if she wants to break the US. I know there’s a lot of Kelly stans on her, but you guys’ are seriously wearing some “Rose Colored Glasses” of your own if you think this kind of music is gonna do it for her.

It’s a pretty good song. To me, it seems like Kelly is trying to appeal and please a wide range of people. And I definitely applaud her for going out of her comfort zone and trying new things(which shows her growth as an artist) . There’s commander, the international single which caters to her dance fans, and then there’s her domestic double singles: grown woman, which caters to her urban fans, and then there is rose colored glasses for her pop fan. Kelly’s just on her grind and I don’t blame her! Cant wait for the final commander video( I love that song!) and I cant wait to buy her album! And the key word there was BUY!
Ms Kelly is on fire, I’m not a total fan boy like some of the others on here, but from the incredible Commander, which is probably my favourite single so far this year to Smooches and the feel good Shake Them Haters Off, and now this! Can’t wait for the album!

None of Kelly’s songs have been released to American radio yet. “Commander” is the only song that has been released to radio and it serves as the International release. It’s charting all over the world. Everyday the tune is rising on the charts internationally. It’s already number one on some European stations.
Let’s just be honest, the only people really checking for Kelly are her fans. Truth be told, she is not going to garner any new fans with any of the material that has leaked recently. Commander, as stated above, was a good choice for first single but only if she plans on actually promoting it. Since when are songs only given a 30-second shelf life? In the recent history of the billboard charts, how many songs have been growers and not showers? eg. Usher “OMG”, just about all Rihanna songs and countless others. Kelly and her management need to pick a single and stick by it. Constantly releasing new “singles” each week only signals to the audience that both she and her camp are nervous about sales and don’t truly believe in the choices they have made thus far.
Further, if she has a new “single” each week with a release date slated for September (it’s only June), by that time, every song on the album would have been a single and there would be no need for anyone (not even her fans) to buy this CD. The problem is the biggest music market is the US and that is where Kelly wants to make it big. She’s on the dance charts but nowhere else. Z100 has played Commander once that I’ve heard. They played WLTO all the time. With the way her songs are leaking this is not looking good for Kelly.

O.K. I just listened to the song. Production wise it was quite typical. Nice but nothing spectacular. Lyrically, I loved it. As much as I hate bringing up other artists in someones post, I have to say, this song could have easily been recorded by Rihanna for her Rated R album. Only because of the content. We all know she wouldn’t have been able to pull this off vocally, which brings me to my next point. Vocally, Kelly owned it as usual. I must say the vocal growth and fearlessness that this girl is exhibiting this go-round is commendable. While Kelly has always been able to sing, there was a time when she seemed vocally timid and held back quite a bit. Can’t say that about her any more. That is clearly a thing of the past because Kelly is delivering strong vocals without losing her signature tone and clarity. I’m loving it.
I understand why some people are not blown away by this song. It’s not original or ahead of it’s time and Kelly is capable of original, ahead of the pack music; but she’s giving us that with “Commander”,”The Sound(On&On)” and whatever else will serve as electro/dance on her album. I also loved her throwback urban mix of “Commander”. No ones making hard hitting r&b like that anymore. Haven’t heard anything like that since the 90’s. Everything from Kelly’s smooth background vocals to Nelly’s Bone Thugs N Harmony-esque rap took me back to the days when a song made you say, “Oh snaps, that’s my jam” lol. I miss those days.
This song(“Rose Colored Glasses”) did not do that for me at all; but I’m sure that it will do well on radio because of how typical and, yes, generic it is.
That’s not saying though, that Kelly didn’t kill it. She did.
She’d better release her album before realising all this single….I see the strategie behind this duet stateside single. One has an urban feel the other more pop rock while “commander” suits better the international market.

This sounds like a stronger release than “Grown Ass Woman.” According to http://www.kellyrowlandweb.com “Rose Colored Glasses” will be released to Top 40 and Rhythm stations, while “Grown Ass Woman” will be released to Urban Mainstream and Crossover in the US. Kelly is on that level to where she has to please the whole world so thats why all of these singles are being released. Some people are still confused as to why all of these singles are being released…”Commander” is for the INTERNATIONAL market, meaning outside of the US because most people in the US don’t like music like that because many people tend to associate dance music in the US as something for gay audiences. Slowly but surely, the dance music genre is starting to gain some momentum in the US.

The song has potential..I think the vocal arrangements could’ve been better as far as layering (this actually applies to a lot of her songs)..like she could’ve harmonized the chorus a little better by adding a lower tone and more background vocals just to give the song more depth if that makes sense..

I like the sing, it took a while to grow on me. As a single ,call is what it is: the song is not catchy which forces one to listen to the words and this makes it interested thus it does not gives a “bumble gum’ feeling to it. The vocals are good but could have been waaaaaaaay better.
Kelly is not for the young audience as much as we would hope. So from every since her music is real, potent, not love at first listen and beyond what we expect from her but that’s her.
With a good video and endless promotion this song will do well.
