Jamelia Signs New Record Deal

Published: Wednesday 28th Jul 2010 by Sam

After an almost 3 year hiatus from the music scene, Pop star Jamelia has announced that she has signed a new record deal.

Full story after the jump…

Via DS:

The ‘Superstar’ singer, who parted ways with EMI in 2007, signed the deal live on UStream watched by fans.

In her management’s offices, Jamelia said it was a “very exciting day for me” and added that she “wanted to share it with my fans”.

The 29-year-old was emotional as she signed the deal in front of the management team and her two children. Who the deal is with remains unknown.

“Obviously this is really really exciting for me,” she said. “Let the games begin!”

Last month the singer confirmed that she would shoot a video for her new single as soon as the deal was signed.

While Jamelia remains coy about her new recording home, That Grape Juice can exclusively reveal that the Birmingham-bred star signed the lucrative deal with a MAJOR label – one who are putting much in the way of £££ and marketing muscle behind the project to ensure its success. Hold tight for a ‘formal announcement’ shortly.

It’ll be really interesting to see how Jamelia fits into the current musical landscape, upon her return. For, in her absence, the likes of Alexandra Burke and Alesha Dixon, have established themselves on the UK music scene – releasing music not dissimilar to the sound Jamelia was renown for.

In any case, the ‘Money’ singer remains one of the UK’s most successful contemporary R&B/Pop females – boasting multi-Platinum album sales. Hence, it’s great to have her back to shake up the scene somewhat. Here’s hoping her material is actually good.

i love and respect Jamelia so much, this is a tough industry to be in and very rare for a Black Female artist to stay in the public eye for such a long time, she has remained a public figure due to staying on TV shows and keeping her name known, yet she is a mother with 2 Children also, i just think thats amazing, her last album may not have been her best but still far better than both the other 2 female artist you mentioned (no disrespect to either of them).

Shes still beautiful and has an incredible voice, more power to her shes gonna be MASSIVE!!!

I think 2011 is gonna be a very strong year for GREAT music from UK Blakc Females with Keisha Buchanan making her long awaited debut, and Jamelia ready to return, its gonna be amazing all we need to her now is that after Keisha’s album, the original Sugababes will reform and all will be perfect!!!

In the month since its release, ‘Tone It Down’ – the latest collabo between rapper Gucci Mane and R&B bad boy Chris Brown – has failed to impact the Billboard Hot 100. Peaking right outside of the tally at the top of the Bubbling Under charts, the duo are looking to change its fate… Read More

It’s finally here! Having shared space on the tracks ‘Do You Mind’ (DJ Khaled), ‘I Wanna Be With You’ (DJ Khaled), ‘Tapout’ (Rich Gang), and more, chart-topping rappers Future and Nicki Minaj are far from strangers.  This is probably why fans of both acts went into a frenzy when the two were photographed on… Read More
