Sexually-charged singer Trey Songz sat down with MTV recently to discuss the video for his new single ‘Bottoms Up (ft. Nicki Minaj)’. While everything from the song’s title, to it’s lyrical content boast the same raciness Songz has become renown for, the 25 year old claims the Anthony Mandler directed clip is heading in another direction.

I can’t help but feel it’s asking a bit too much of Songz to keep his clothes on and leave that baby oil in the drawer. Nonetheless, it’ll be interesting to see if he can actually serve up a video of substance this go round; after all, he’s going to need to.
For, with Trey’s ‘Pain, Pleasure, & Pain’ LP still slated for a September 14th release, it means he’ll be dropping the album on the back of just one proper single and a poorly-performing reality show (a huge risk in this current musical climate). With his last album only just going Gold, and spawning only one hit out of six releases, I still get the distinct impression that smoke and mirrors are being used to sell Songz as being more than he is – something which will ultimately make his first-week album sales oh-so-interesting to see.
In case, I’ll reserve full judgement until seeing the ‘Bottoms Up’ video itself. Word has it that it’ll be premièring any day now.

The song is awful but he has a solid fanbase so no worries.
I just watched the latest episode of his show – I prefer his family moments but I be yawning to much to watch it…….
I am a big fan of Treys but I wanna see something else from him because am getting bored of him and no clothes self!!!!
I didn’t know that “Ready” only went Gold. After all those singles that were released from it. Wow, I agree with others when said that “Bottoms Up” isn’t such a good song to come out, it isn’t single-worthy and I doubt it’ll be #1 for Trey. We’ll see.
Now Sam. “One hit out of six releases?’ Get real. All 6 of those releases went Top 10 at Urban radio and 5 of of them went Top 10 on Billboard’s R&B charts. Let’s just be honest here and stop trying to put down artists’ success.
He’s just so boring to me. Trey was cute first time he came out. I was feeling it. Then Ready came out, i was like Ok. But single after single I was disappointed and sort of turned off, by his overly sexual image. It’s like we get it your s*** and you can get it on. Now I’m hearing this “Bottoms Up” piece of s***. Will I be buying this album? AHHHHHHHHHH NO.

I kinda like ‘Bottoms up’ but mainly because of Nicki’s verse.
A lot of my friends went to his concert in Shrevport this past weekend, and they said Trey was putting them to sleep in the beginning of his performance but then picked it up at the end, which is what I expected and the reason I didn’t want to go. I knew he was going to perform his new ish from PPP and no one was gonna know what the hell it was. I just never think it’s a good idea to perform new ish that hasn’t been released at your show b/c people will get bored really easily. He should have waited to do this tour AFTER PPP was released. On top of that I’ve seen him perform the ‘Ready’ material twice and I’m sure nothing would have been different about that. ‘Ready’ does have amazing material, I’m just kinda sick of hearing it after damn near a year and half!
However, they said Monica KILLED it!

LMAO @ one hit. All of Trey Songz’s singles were Urban hits – that’s his core fanbase. You don’t have to cross over to Pop radio or be Top 10 on the Hot 100 for your song to be considered a hit. And his album sold 700k+ which again, is great for a male R&B singer. Who else has done it recently?
I’m not even a fan, but don’t try to downplay people’s success just because you don’t like them. Meanwhile you’re sitting around praising Kelly Rowland and Ciara who are the REAL flops.

At least he’s keeping it real by sticking to R&B/Urban-contemporary and isn’t trying to jump on that cheesy “electropop” bandwagon for the sake of appealing to suburban teenager girls and gay guys with something that sounds fished out of Taio Cruz’ toilet. I’m not a fan of TS, but if nothing else I can at least respect him for that. Too bad Usher and Kelly Rowland opted to not stay as true.
