X Factor Drama; Calls For Cheryl Cole To Be Sacked

Published: Tuesday 9th Nov 2010 by Sam

In what has become an on-going pattern with the X Factor this year, the series has once again hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

As many of our UK readers will know, controversy struck the competition over the weekend when contestant Katie Waissel was saved over TreyC Cohen. This, despite forgetting her words in the final sing-off (again) and  being labelled the inferior singer of the two by Simon Cowell – who still went on to vote for her to stay.

It is the pair’s mentor Cheryl Cole, however, who is the subject of the most intense critique, after out-rightly refusing to cast her vote; a vote which very well could have been instrumental in bringing about a different outcome.

Now, new reports detail how viewers have made hundreds of official complaints about the occurrences, with many calling for Cheryl Cole to be axed from the judging panel.

Full story below…

Via MTV:

Angry The X Factor fans have urged bosses to sack judge Cheryl Cole, after she failed to chose between her acts Katie Waissel and Treyc Cohen on Sunday’s results show.

The Girls Aloud star, who refused to vote for either Waissel or Cohen, has triggered over 800 viewers complaints to Ofcom over her decision, which saw Treyc eliminated from the talent show.

According to reports, the Promise This singer fled the XF studios ‘in tears’ after Treyc left the competition, despite reportedly receiving three times as many votes as Katie.

Fans are allegedly ‘furious’ after 24-year old Katie allegedly said “Sod it” when she forgot her words during her save-me song, and STILL made it through to the next live show.

Speaking of Cheryl’s controversial decision, one fan wrote: “She’s paid a lot of money to be a judge and she failed to do her job. She’s spineless. If she can’t do it then she should be sacked.”

Another claimed: “Regardless of what you think of Katie and Treyc, Cole has just forfeited her right to be a judge.”

Meanwhile, reports have suggested that Katie, and Cheryl’s remaining contestants, Cher Lloyd and Rebecca Ferguson, have complained to Simon Cowell about the ‘little time’ they spend with their mentor.

As we reported yesterday, axed singer Treyc revealed that Chezza only sees the girls on rehearsal day, with a source now telling the Daily Mail: “The girls did speak to Simon and complained that Cheryl spends barely any time with them.”

“Cheryl went to Los Angeles last week, but it didn’t even matter really as she only ever really sees the girls on Fridays for a final run-through, when other judges like Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh are working so hard – and Simon, of course, is spending all his time with One Direction.”

Why does this not surprise me in the slightest? If this year’s series has highlighted one thing, it’s that the show is much more a TV spectacle than it is a talent contest. Truth be told, it’s been like this for years. However, fundamentally different now, is the fact that the viewing audience are becoming more aware of this; a fact evidenced by the mass outcry surrounding the show’s use of autotune during the audition phase, to Gamu-Gate, and now this.

Capitalist greed at its worst. The X-Factor has been generating big bucks for the longest, and would generate even more (in the long-run) if it concentrated on primarily producing music stars. Instead the show seems adamant on creating disposable TV ‘stars’, while in the process trying to take the audience for dummies.

Still, it’s pretty much a given that the show will continue to be a major money-spinner – for the foreseeable future. However, the antics of this past weekend has left the saltiest of tastes in my mouth and the mouths of many others.

Cheryl won’t be sacked, sharon did the same thing, and also dannii has refused to vote. It doesn’t matter hw many votes treyc or katie got, they were both in the bottom 2, and she got sent home. Personally I don’t think it matters as neither wud win, treyc was boring and ppl only cared about the size of her ass.

  2. Truth Seeker November 9, 2010

Puleeez, what difference would it make! Cheryl dint vote but the other 3 judges did and they all went for Katie, not Trey C. Majority rules and neither have an effing chance of winning anything. Cheryl should be fired for being annoying, least of all her incomprehensible Geordie accent. Nuff said!

More than that why is the public not up in arms with Cheryls obvious comfilct of interest. She obviously pays more attention to her career than she does to the kids she mentors for 3-4 months…it’s fair enough most would do the same. My big problem is her dropping singles and albums at extactly three same time as the previous years winners (both acts being the acts she mentored) when she could easly drop her music any day of the year and make the number one spot.

This is by far more of a problem for me than sundays antics and I see this only getting worse. Should she become a judge on the US version she will surely see this as an opportunity for her to launch her US singing career.

Last note: Is it just me or did she dash way Cole with the intention of making the most of Simon’s adoration and capitalise on her new meal ticket to WORLD WIDE fame.

People in America having been saying Chezza sucks ass for the longest while and will never make it stateside. Yet peeps in the UK are only realizing that now… SMH. LOL.

  8. kizzy2400 November 9, 2010

finally the british public have opened their eyes and seen how untalented this woman is. I read today that shes gotten a record deal in america i doubt she’ll get big over their

  9. LondonDiva November 9, 2010

She said she wasn’t voting her girls off and told Dermot to ask ‘these two, then I’ll take it to deadlock’ Dermot never came back to her. She never flat out refused to vote, she refused to vote at that point. Which part of come back to me did Dermot not understand?

And since WHEN have they gone to the judge with 2 acts in the bottom second? They always came to that particular judge last to make their decision when both their acts were in the bottom two.

Sharon did the same thing in the FIRST series when deadlock wasn’t even a part of the show.

  10. Dominic November 9, 2010

I hope Cheryl doesn’t get the sack, I mean flippin’ heck, that’s a bit drastic don’t you think? If a different judge gets put in her place and refuses to vote are you going to want them to be sacked as well? get a life!

  11. antertain November 9, 2010

No Judge in any series has chosen to send any of their own acts home even when in the bottom 2.

The only thing that is different than other years is that the mentor can’t now send it to deadlock if they got 2acts in the bottom 2 and refuse to cast a vote if asked be4 the other judges.

Majority rulez BUT the fact that Katie has been in the bottom two 3times must make the judges see sense and finally let her go.

The public are not keen on this fame hungry girl Katie so they need to stop saving he ass cus SHE’s not gonna win.

I don’t think TreyC would’ve won either but on merit TreyC should still stay over Katie into another week.

Katie is being allowed to stay in as she brings the X-factor brand PRESS and that’s it!!

cheryl is a disgrace the whole point of a judge is to judge…she really is a sad sad individual, always thinking about herself….

  13. ~AalexisR~ The Summer King (The Bahamas) November 9, 2010

    @LondonDiva

Exactly my point. Dermot frigged up.

Katie shouldn’t have been included in the damn competition in the first place.

  14. Scott November 9, 2010

Preach Antha you are the only one who has hit the nail on the head.Cheryl told treyc in the judges house that she was not marketable and would not have a place in the charts.Black women are killing it in the UK charts this year Alexandra Burke, Rihanna, Kelly Rowland, Alesha, Shontelle.Cheryl is looking out for her own career and does not want talented singers to progress and make her look weak and flat. She has no talent and the moment she trys to launch in America she will not be able to hide behind backing tracks and miming.

Firstly: I don’t see why the person who writes for this website bother to write up on anything to do with X Factor, Cheryl Cole, Rihanna etc. as it is only ever negative regardless of what the material is. If you have such hate for these artists or the show then don’t include them on your website as it reflects badly when you are constantly slating people.
Secondly: At the start of this season, Simon had both acts in the bottom two (Diva Fever and Belle Amie) and the order of voting was changed for him so he got to vote last but not for Cheryl. It is more than likely, the producers trying to whip up some controversy as they already know that Cheryl is no longer the nations sweet heart and many people (like this website) are just looking for an excuse to b****. Thus giving the producers what they want.

  16. burble November 9, 2010

yawn x factor is a fix, its all manufactured people tryna get famous. fair enough some of them MIGHT have a good voice, but i want to see a PERFORMER!!! (e.g. stage presence, dancing, interacts with the audience)

anyway, the ONLY judge to EVER send the OWN act home was SIMON!
he sent ‘Kandy Rain’ home (cant remember who it was over though)
the point is Dermott shouldnt have gone to Cheryl second and we all knew Cheryl wouldnt send neither of her acts home. plus BOTH Treyc and Katie had been in the bottom 2 BEFORE doesnt that tell you something??
why are some people making it into a big race thing? i dont think Cheryl is racist, but people are just grasping at something to complain about.

  17. K.Row Kid November 9, 2010

I DON’T EVEN LIVE IN THE UK AND I WANT HER ASS OFF THE SHOW!!!!!

Neither of the girls were that good but there’s no way in hell Katie should have stayed.

They need to fire Cheryl! And how is she going to teach anyone to hone their talent? I mean she can dance, but she really just gets over with being beautiful. And I HOPE she doesn’t bring that s*** stateside anytime soon!!!! Simon better leave her ass over there!

  18. ChEeRfUl CyNiC XD November 9, 2010

That show has honestly gone to the dogs

  19. ChEeRfUl CyNiC XD November 9, 2010

    I agree 100% with scott

  20. jg_nycchop November 10, 2010

Seriously can’t believe people r lodging formal complaints… Its a talent show get over it neither of thos two had any real shot @ winning anyway? But to those who say it doesn’t produce stars? American artits would kill for record sales like alexandra, jls and leona all in a country a fifth the size

  21. LiziBarnett November 10, 2010

im sorry you lot like but shes a judge she knows her rules and evrything fair enough you lot might not be happy but its not easy being a judge of anything and people maybe complaiining bout hr not doing her job but like the above comment says they both enver had a chance of winning which i think is right 2bhonest because there both rubbish and cheryl cole has done her job for ages and im sure she knows whats shes doing because its not illegal too choose some body and tbh if you did choose anyone i think it would of been katie but tbh treyc’s gone now so who gives a fflying f**k because tbh i dont :// just though i would get my poinit in like all youu did :///// xxxxxxxx

  22. dboy November 10, 2010

she shouldnt be sacked though av stopped watching the show since john was sent home, i rmbr a week simon had 2 acts in bottm 2 and dermot went to him last so it was unfair to go to cheryl 2nd..then again the word fair isn’t exactly a watchword on xfactor is it?

  23. who? November 10, 2010

I don’t think that TreyC had a chance of winning but that’s really not the point. Katie has been in the bottom two, three times and each time she’s escaped. I get that Cheryl was conflicted and wanted to send it to deadlock but why did Simon and Louis vote for Katie? She didn’t even complete her song, forgot the lyrics, and said “sod it” and sat down and begged the judges for another chance. On what planet should she have continued? No, TreyC would not have won but she deserved better treatment than she received from the X Factor. And anyone who watches the show knows that the only act Cheryl really cares about is Cher and if she had been in the bottom with Katie, Cheryl would have made a choice.

  24. Anna November 21, 2010

If you really think aboutoldie would have been hard cause you would have got two know them so well been telling them they were great and then say one was better than the other not veryfair is it ? I don’t have anything against cheryl for what she did I
    Would have done the same
But I agree x factor isn’t the same there’s always fighting or sarcasm from someone. Simon has got to do something about it or there’s gonna be trouble people are alrea co
